Exactly. I used to think I was above it, but if you're a guy, you're gonna get led around by your biological need to react to anything perceived as aggression. I get pulled in all the time, it's knee-jerk. I occasionally like to start some, too, but I try to keep it relevant. Sometimes I fail, but hey, I'm a dude.Mistress_DB wrote:This place is mild compared to a lot of boards on the net. As for some people's behavior.. you get a bunch of guys together and eventually there's going to be a pissing match over who's got the bigger dick.
You can put Hawk, Lonewolf, undercoverjoe, and myself in a room, and we'd be just fine. We're all grown-ups, and we know the difference between the internet and real life. We have things we agree on, like music. We may not have the exact same tastes, but all of us "get it." All seem to be very knowledgeable about music, and I guarantee you, we all have excellent taste in music. Anyone would do well to listen to what the "old guys" listen to because for most of our lives, you didn't just log onto the internet and listen to any song in the world. We had to work for it, we had to invest in it. Anyway, we're humans, and we talk about other things than music. I won't apologize for it, and would encourage others not to, either. I love music threads, but man does not live by bread alone.
Ask me for advice, and you'll get plenty, not because I'm an expert, but because I want you to have as much fun as I did, but not make the mistakes I did. If I ask you for advice, it's because I trust your experience, and I ask a lot. Rockpage Regulars tend to know something about what they do, use that knowledge or don't, it's up to each of you.
If there's one thing I've found, it's that if I don't click on a thread, it's usually off the front page in a day or two. That's how I edit what I see here. Rockpage Regulars are those with time and desire to be here. We know one another. I have Rockpage set as my homepage, because it's my peer group. You can be a part of that group, but nobody's forcing anything. It's the internet, for Pete's sake. --->JMS
