Now this is cool as shit man! It is a limited run, and it is selling for around $5,000 which is way out of my reach, but I would like to plug into one and try it out sometime.
And no, this is not the source of the nasally tones we hear on 'Blizzard of Ozz', and 'Diary of a Madman', But more like his live rig as heard on Ozzy's 'Tribute to Randy Rhoads' album.

From what I gather, Marshall have received special permission from Delores Rhoads to analyze Rhoads' original Marshall 1959 Plexi head in order to produce a very close copy to the original head.

Normally I don't care for sig models, especially after what Dean is doin with the 300 'Dimebag' models that they have been producing, mainly because they are selling based on a name.

But this head has been a long time coming and it will be in limited production. The only real draw back to achieving Rhoads' tone is that the cabinet doesn't have Altec speakers, but I guess the ones used are extremely close to them.

If I had the money to blow on this I would definitely buy one just to have it, and then I'd have Jackson build me a lefty RR loaded with a Duncan Distortion and a Jazz, then I'd be set.

Oh well, we all can dream can't we?

Yeah Joe I get the feeling that this head sounds pretty awesome. $5,000? Wow. I bet a Lee Jackson or VooDoo Amps modded plexi or JCM 800 could come close in tone for less than half the price though. Still a cool piece for those with deep pockets. My pockets fell off in the wash.

No doubt bro, I'm sure that Lee Jackson or Voodoo could have gotten extremely close. But it wouldn't have that 'Marshall' name then.

One of the biggest things that I dislike about this, or any limited production model of something, is the fact that they are priced for the collector, not the musician.

I understand they need to re coup the manufacturing and research costs, but if the production numbers were higher, it would be easier to sell and earn a profit.
I would think that by limiting the product count coupled with a higher price almost cuts their own throats from the start.
I might be wrong though.

I'll tell you guys if I ever won the lottery, I would have the most awesomest guitar and amp collection ever. There are so many guitars and amps that I'd love to own, and it wouldn't be in a room on display, those puppies would be played regularily just like intended.
I'd probably start my own company and invest my money wisely. That way I'd still have income and something to occupy my brain and focus on.
And I would most definitely hook all of you guys up with some cool gear. Mark my words on that one.

I'd just love to try this '59RR head in the worst way. That totally sucks that it's priced that high.
And even in a few years the used ones will probably be holding their value due to the production #'s
But who knows, there might be a few that could be had at a reasonable cost.

That cascading preamp circuit is what makes the gain on this Marshall a beast!!! definitely a dream amp for me!
Here's a good demo of it...

It is crazy how close this amp gets you to Randy's sound isn't it?
There was another video with Zakk demoing the amp too, did you see that one?

I think that out of all the Ozzy guitarists' sounds, I like Zakk's tone on 'No Rest For The Wicked' the best out of them all.
It was pretty much a hotrodded Gibson (emg 81/85) w/ a hot rodded Marshall JCM800 2203. Simple, yet very effective.

If you really want to plug into this thing then you need to road trip it to Rainbow in State College. It's a full stack in the corner of the amp room. You may want to take your own guitar though, the only lefty i remember seeing was a taco strat.
