Best Use Of Songs In Movies..

Post by GoneForever »

I'd say

Freebird (Devil's Rejects)
Welcome Home-King Diamond (Clerks 2) *Although they should have played it when the Qwk Stop re-opened*
Misery- Soul Asylum (Clerks 2)

I'll think of some more later.

I can no longer listen to either of these tunes without envisioning the scenes from the movies. It's as if the songs were written specifically for these flicks!

The same is true with Tuesday's Gone by Skynyrd at the beginning if Billy Madision!

I will agree that the best use of a song in a movie is Stuck In the Middle with You from Reservoir Dogs,

My favorite tho is Trigger by In Flames on the Freddy vs Jason Soundtrack...

Also I thought that Tuesdays Gone was in Happy Gillmore not Billy Madison

Not a big fan of the tune, but the trippy feel to it made it work really well:

Stranglehold in the club scene in Rockstar, right after Marky Mark's first gig with Steel Dragon..... Everybody'd getting wasted, trippin', practically doing everybody else right on the dancefloor... the solo section of the tune, with its lazy, repetitive groove playing... thought it worked well in that scene......

You are so right! My bad! I always associate that song with Grandma wearing the Gene Simmons mask!

"The End" by The Doors in "Apocalypse Now" from 1979 - pure genius (there I go again - stuck in the 70's, & why not?). Very eerie the way you can hear the helicopter in the background. It gives the viewer the sense of finality, I think. That's brilliant art in my opinion.

Another good one from Clerks 2
--Nothing But Flowers-Talking Heads. I thought that really set the tone for the whole movie.

I thought the whole Dazed And Confused SDTK working really well for the movie.

I know I'm still missing some more good ones.

I know I'm missing some but....

Get Together (Youngbloods) - Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Hurricane (Bob Dylan) - Hurricane (interesting that this was a song that told the whole story many years before it was a movie)
Nature's Way (Spirit) and Time Has Come Today(Chambers Bros) - The 60's
The End - Apocolypse Now
Ballad of Easy Rider (Byrds) - Easy Rider
If music be the food of love, then play on...

Ditto.

Also, I always dug that "Oh Yeah" song from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

God, I haven't seen that movie in years! "Las Vegas loves a drunk." Gotta love Hunter S.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.

Born to be Wild - Easy Rider... so cool how it starts just as the scene changes.

I haven't seen the movie Heavy Metal in a few years, but wasn't the "The Mob Rules" part a bit short, just like Sabbath's "Time Machine" bit was barely noticeable in Wayne's World?

(er... or did they actually throw some of E5150 in Heavy Metal as well? Too many beans ago...)

I hear you...for me, it is "Foxy Lady" and the dance (?) Garth does! I cannot hear that tune without seeing his expressions and contortions.

Along with many already mentioned, "Animal House" and "The Big Chill". While I watch the former at least once a year if not more, I have not seen the latter in years. From what I recall, it has a fairly decent, fitting soundtrack.
