THIS OPINION IS NOT MEANT AS A PLUG FOR THE ROCKING VARIETY BAND:

THE VERGE

:P

http://rockpage.net/bands/bands.php?band=theverge
LOL

Yes, I hate when a band shamelessly plug itself in threads not specifically intended for promotion of said band ...

I think I will put together a heavy metal - polka - grunge - rap band. That way, everybody will be happy and no matter what the syle, a bandana, do-rag, babooska, head scarf or whatever you want to call your head covering is part of the attire.

Then they'd just call you a sellout  .

Oh well, how about back hair-metal. Or is that what Black Label Society is? (I'm so gonna hear about this)

Wow this is getting out of hand. I was just watching CNN and apparently radical metal followers are fighting 80's hair band groupies for control of the Gaza Strip. Man, can't we just all get along?

$50.00 on the groupies. Not necessarily because I want one side or the
other to win, per se...but I've seen those girls fight and they're way dirty.

I wonder who would represent each group in battle. I would suspect Dee Snider for the hair bands. That make up he sports looks like some type of tribal war paint. Not sure who would lead the metal following, Dio? Kerry King? King Diamond? Thoughts?

Their leader is in exile at the moment, at least from Rockpage.

In the meantime, this picture is just begging for a funny caption. Ideas?

I agree that those bands are all still touring and selling out wherever they play, but what Im trying to express is that That Genre is basically dead. The following is still there but you dont see bands writing 80s style Hair Metal anymore. Yea you see alot of Testament, Helloween, Maiden influences but I dont see alot of Poison, Ratt, White Lion, influence. Now I will admit that Geoff Tate is one of my greatest influences but You cant really tell in my music. The 80s music was great but you just dont see anyone creating anything in that Genre anymore...

Not in its purest form, but the music is still alive and influential. You don't hear a new symphony on the radio every day either, but that doesn't mean that Mozart didn't write some good shit that still profoundly affects people.

If anything, now's a great time to go see a hair band. The ones that have survived and are still around are the cream of the crop.

Ditto for the cover bands. If the only thing Hair Force One had going for them was the novelty, everyone and their brother would cash in on it. They're on top of the game because of hard work and determination. Trust me, I was there when HF1 consisted of me and Vic staring at our beers depressed because we'd gone EIGHT MONTHS looking for other members with no luck. You can say what you will about Vic, but he never ever takes his eyes off the prize.

A whole band in kilts!?!?! Damn, those guys are in for some trouble. I don't play well with others as it is. I tried to do a solo album once, but fired myself for creative differences.

Well you are all right don't blame me for being a retard ! Its just me, it was a horrible way to try to say something.HF1 and scream are great! I was no way saying I was going to kick there ass geeze those guys can play stuff I can't and I love that music. they are really talented musicians as far as my other comments I agree listen to what you love. THe whole hardcore metal thing there is a ton of energy there. I don't like grundge and why would I it killed my damn (stuck in the past) (hair metal )but the crowd decides my thread was targeted at bands picking on hair metal. As far as my non existant band Well The dude nailed me hes right !!! It takes alot of time and talent to pull off those covers as accurate as they do . As far as a male groupie thats got me cracking up !! Yngwie Racer X Van Halen , well maybe , I was simply tring to say that both these bands make me feel like I am watching a 80's rock band and make me want to play . I support all local bands and I bring boat loads of people with me to watch and spend money, but what i typed I sounded like an ass and I am sorry . One other note on another comment Poision. Bon Jovi they still sell out all the time and they put on a show thats all there is to it . As a matter of fact I will be seeing them with Ratt soon and i am excited, although I was hoping for Jake E Lee in ratt

I haven't been online all day, so I'm coming into this thread pretty late, but I must commend a lot of the noetic responses by people like Vic, DrumandDestroy, and Kevin. Kudos to the original poster for realizing that what he was said was stupid and making an apology for it. I think that's something that is often lacking on here. God knows that I've said some stupid shit on here. LOL

With that said, we have both 90s grunge/alt. rock and 80s hair metal in our repertoire. We often play She Hates Me by Puddle of Mudd and then go directly into You Give Love a Band Name. I've learned something new from every style of music I've played and every playing situation that I've been in has challenged me in some way or another - and that goes for both the original and cover situations that I've been in!

And yes, HF1 and Scream are both excellent bands! HF alumnus Jimi Hatt came out last week and we had the pleasure of him sitting in. Most of the musos on here can attest that sometimes when someone sits in, it doesn't feel "natural." They may have some quirk about their playing that doesn't sit right or they're just a challenge to play with because they're out in left field somewhere. With Jimi, it felt like I had played with him all of my life. That's the mark of an excellent musician!

p.s. I had to go on an urban dictionary and look up the meaning of "babooska."

What are you a RETARD?? NSYNC are just clones of The New Kids and The Back Street Boys! OMG... And those two great bands wouldnt be anything without Menudo and New Edition... Dude if you're going to to be that ignorant about the true roots of boy bands...just sell your instrument and give pollitics a try!

 Just when I thought I had surely read the last LMAO post, there was another! Thanks!

A Babushka is a scarf tied around the head, usually that of a woman of Slavic heritage. My Baba sometimes wore a Babushka. :) Baba is Slovak for Grandmother.

Reading the mentions of all Genres, a specific grunge Band and local Bands, it brought to mind a local Band I saw several weeks ago. :D They played great Tunes from just about every Genre, including ones from Skynyrd, Poison, Metallica, AC/DC, Black Sabbath AND Nirvana.
