Rockpage needs more moderators.
I'd probably clean out half this site...

Mr. Positive, you trying to get us to get along is like trying to negotiate with a suicide bomber.

That is perfectly alright. Much like Eastern philosophy, the wisdom of good grammar cannot simply be bestowed upon a person. He or she must be of sound intellect and soul to truly appreciate this beautiful language. If you cannot step outside of yourself and realize that your grammatical skills may not be perfect, then the loss is truly yours. I will take my crusade of grammatical correctness to the people. Together, we shall rise to a new era of punctuation, with or without you.

You're welcome.

Actually, Capt., I think my grammatical skills are near perfect. Still, I'm kinda sorry that I threw you into the asshole category. Please realize that it was 3:30 AM when I posted that.

Good sir, I fully understand. Posting in the early morning can cloud one's mind. The most important thing is that you recognize the importance of grammatical correctness. Once again, I am speechless at how passionate Rockpagers are when it comes to English. I truly believe that this forum will be the springboard towards grammatical perfection across the entire Internet.

I've noticed that lack of sleep can make you do some weird, or unusual, things. That could probably be another pet peeve of mine - Why is that college professors feel that the average student does not need sleep ?? I mean, last semester I got a total of about two or three hours of sleep a night from all the studying I did. The case load was more than a super human could bare. I couldn't tell you how many times I was about ready to shoot myself.

You're sitting in a turning lane ready to turn left, and another car is approaching in the opposite lane moving fairly fast. Right at the last minute they slow, turn on their turn signal, and turn right into the lane you are turning into.
If they had turned her turn signal on earlier, you could have easily made the turn and be on your way well before they got to the intersection.
... and then the wheel fell off.

Only if you trust turn signals in that situation, which I usually don't.

Heh, heh, heh. You're absolutely right Rob. Unless its STP, BTO, ELO, GnR or the like, 99.99% of us don't have a clue who these bands are.

My main pet peeve right now is people that DON'T use their turn signals. There are too many just in Altoona.

Exactly! One example: when they do not use turn signals to properly denote an up-coming lane change, one cannot trust that drivers will remain in the lane they are in. One day, I had my vehicle stopped at the stop sign at 11th Street and 6th Avenue, and was waiting to turn right on to 6th Avenue. I was using the proper turn signal on my vehicle. :) Any way, I see a vehicle coming up 6th Ave. in the left-hand lane, approaching the intersection. I proceeded to pull out into the right-hand lane, but at the same time the other driver began to also pull into the right-hand lane and nearly struck my vehicle. I then changed lanes several times, demonstrating proper utilization of turn signals. :D I don't believe the other driver was too highly amused. :D

Haha nice. Yes the major violations I have seen are lane changes. But I also see a lot of turn offs, which is REALLY annoying especially when you're going over 40mph.

here's another pet peave of mine:

Internet "language"

The whole thing, from "L.O.L." to using numbers and letters in place of words.

I hate all internet abbreviations, and I think text messaging and instant messanging software are totally ruining our language, and it makes me sad that there will probably come a time when this manner of writing is common and acceptable. I don't think it will ever replace formal writing, but I think it will, or maybe has replaced informal writing.
Stand back, I like to rock out.

and on second thought maybe someday someone will think I'm some kind of weirdo for writing "to" or "too" instead of writing "2"

We no longer write "olde" the extra e has gone the way of the dinosaur. Who knows what kind of crazy internet jargon will become completely acceptable in the future.
