That is perfectly alright. Much like Eastern philosophy, the wisdom of good grammar cannot simply be bestowed upon a person. He or she must be of sound intellect and soul to truly appreciate this beautiful language. If you cannot step outside of yourself and realize that your grammatical skills may not be perfect, then the loss is truly yours. I will take my crusade of grammatical correctness to the people. Together, we shall rise to a new era of punctuation, with or without you.witchhunt wrote:The more I read RP, the less I read RP. There's just way too many assholes popping up on a regular basis. Sorry Grammar, this includes you.
You're welcome.

Good sir, I fully understand. Posting in the early morning can cloud one's mind. The most important thing is that you recognize the importance of grammatical correctness. Once again, I am speechless at how passionate Rockpagers are when it comes to English. I truly believe that this forum will be the springboard towards grammatical perfection across the entire Internet.

I've noticed that lack of sleep can make you do some weird, or unusual, things. That could probably be another pet peeve of mine - Why is that college professors feel that the average student does not need sleep ?? I mean, last semester I got a total of about two or three hours of sleep a night from all the studying I did. The case load was more than a super human could bare. I couldn't tell you how many times I was about ready to shoot myself.

Yeah, I'll agree with Atomik on this one ... you suck, Mr. Smiley ...Mr Positive Attitude wrote:My goal is merely to improve intrarockpage relations, not to upset anyone. If I've offended anyone, I'm truly sorry. However, I remain optomistic in my mission to improve communication and relations on this website.
I'd like to take this opportunity to reccomend one of my favorite books in the hopes that there will come a time when my services are no longer necesary.
Cheerfully Your's,
Mr. Positive Attitude

You're sitting in a turning lane ready to turn left, and another car is approaching in the opposite lane moving fairly fast. Right at the last minute they slow, turn on their turn signal, and turn right into the lane you are turning into.
If they had turned her turn signal on earlier, you could have easily made the turn and be on your way well before they got to the intersection.

... and then the wheel fell off.
Only if you trust turn signals in that situation, which I usually don't.Ron wrote:You're sitting in a turning lane ready to turn left, and another car is approaching in the opposite lane moving fairly fast. Heh, heh, heh. You're absolutely right Rob. Unless its STP, BTO, ELO, GnR or the like, 99.99% of us don't have a clue who these bands are.BadDazeRob wrote:Bands that abbreviate their names into acronyms. It's confusing, especially when it's a multi-band show, to try to figure out who's playing the show.
"Come see TYG, NP, XYZ and DRP Saturday night."
Just spell the name out ... please.

Exactly! One example: when they do not use turn signals to properly denote an up-coming lane change, one cannot trust that drivers will remain in the lane they are in. One day, I had my vehicle stopped at the stop sign at 11th Street and 6th Avenue, and was waiting to turn right on to 6th Avenue. I was using the proper turn signal on my vehicle.

About a month ago, I made a MySpace blog ranting about the same thing.lepermessiah wrote:i get pissed off when i go out to eat with my girl and eveything is going great, then all of the sudden lil loudmouth baby son of a bitch starts screamin and throwin shit from the table next to us and his parents dont give a smokin shit, they say hes just expressing his feelings, and once he calms down all he does is gaze at me until i have to throw a breadstick at him, then his dad goes and gets all pissed,"what the hell"

here's another pet peave of mine:
Internet "language"
The whole thing, from "L.O.L." to using numbers and letters in place of words.
I hate all internet abbreviations, and I think text messaging and instant messanging software are totally ruining our language, and it makes me sad that there will probably come a time when this manner of writing is common and acceptable. I don't think it will ever replace formal writing, but I think it will, or maybe has replaced informal writing.

Stand back, I like to rock out.
and on second thought maybe someday someone will think I'm some kind of weirdo for writing "to" or "too" instead of writing "2"
We no longer write "olde" the extra e has gone the way of the dinosaur. Who knows what kind of crazy internet jargon will become completely acceptable in the future.
