Well back to what byndrsn said earlier.. (I don't know how to work tha quote this so this is what he said..)
Although I believe Captain Grammer will be paying us both a visit, I agree with your opinions.
Just remember that you are now voicing what many of us conservatives have been saying all along (and I truly apologize if you HAVE been voicing conservative views all along - I did not research it, but believe that you were one of the ones that were voicing liberal opinions before. Again, if I am incorrect, then I retract all that I have said.)
And, although Bush is a "Republican" and supposedly a "Conservative", I really don't agree with him for his; Big Government and increased spending or his Stance on Illegal Immigrants, but I would rather have him in office than either of the "guys" that ran against him.[/quote]
I would not consider myself anything actually. I like to take each issue and judge it on its own merrit. But I very much dislike Bush for what that is worth. The only reason he got to where is is now is because of his family. He was like the little retarded child they kept in the corner till one day they said fuck it let's give him a chance.. In my opinion they were watching way too many special olympic after school specials because he never had a chance of being a good president.
But anyway.. I'm really not sure what issues you were talking about. If you think of what they were let me know because I am curious now.

I don't think there can possibly be 36 million illegals. That's more than 10% of the population of the U.S. 5 or 10 million, I can see where that might be, but not ten percent!
I was listening to local talk radio today, and they were chuckling about local ordinances basically outlawing illegal aliens here in Altoona. First, Altoona has maybe the smallest number of south-of-the-border type illegals of any city it's size that I know of. There's very little work here for them, save for some seasonal apple-picking, and the odd construction job, but that's rare. If they're here, it's for meth deliveries or fat chicks, and they stick out like sore thumbs. Remember, Jose Padilla was here for decades, but how many others do you know of? Drop down into Maryland, and they're at every Lowe's and Home Depot. The radio guys joked that passing a law against illegal aliens is like passing a law against nuclear warfare in Altoona. First, you can't really stop it if it happens, and second, the illegals are already illegal. I thought it was funny, too.----->JMS

i don't know songsmith, that number i know seems like alot, but i don't know where all you've been, but i've been alot of places. that # i know seems like alot but i really don't think it sounds that crazy. you cant really use altoona/ johnstown as a measuring stick to whats relly going on in the rest of the country. i love it here, don't get me wrong but compared to the rest of the country it's like the land that time forgot. which in alot of ways is fine with me. just get away from here, lancaster harrisburg there are tons of mexicans not that theres anything wrong with that but i wonder how many are illegal. when you get right down to it that # really don't seem like such a stretch. i get what your saying though.

Sorry guys. I'm not buying that 10% of the population in this country is illegal. I can write down that I'm hung past my knee, but that's only 3/4 true.
Not every Hispanic you see is illegal. Puerto Ricans, a very sizeable part of the latino community, cannot be illegal aliens, because PR is a US territory. Cubans, even the ones who came here on a boat, were generally granted asylum. Lots of Mexicans are Mexican-american... they were here when the US annexed Texas, or came here legally. Also, there is a huge problem with undocumented immigration from Eastern Europe... white people from the former Iron Curtain, who now practically own organized crime. Where's the outrage?
I can't allow rascism to color my view of illegal immigration, and I won't believe that out of 300 million people, 36 million are illegal.------->JMS

songsmith, i hope your not implying i'm being a racist. you make some really good points. i can't tell a mex from pr from a cuban. i didn't make up that number. i heard it on the news thats when i started this thread. i don't profess to be a political guru. i thought that seemed like alot too! i've heard lots of different numbers on this issue, 10, 13,15 million to name a few. the 36000000 was like holy fuck. i also think our gov't tends to do funny things with numbers. thats all my friend. i think in this case if the gov't will admit to 10-15 million, its probobly more like 20,000,000
just my opinion, which don't mean jack shit.
how does 5% sit with ya.

the US population is 300,399,479 according to www.census.gov
i personally find it easy to believe that 36,000,000 of those are "illegals"
whats that like 12% or so?
based on our area i don't think that holds true but in places like California and Texas i could easily see it.
If two illegals have a child while they are in the US does that child become a citizen by default or are they still considered 'illegal'?

that's why i was wondering... if they are considered a citizen then they have access to all of the services of the gov't, which they can abuse just like 80% of our own people do. The true American way.mjb wrote:i believe that child is automatically a u.s. citizen. not positive but pretty sure. aint that what its all about. then they can jump on the welfare bandwagon and they're set for life.

I saw in the paper over the summer that the fires that kept happening a few times a month were gangs holding tests for there lackies to see if they were tough enough to get in. I have no idea how true that actually is but it was an assumption by the Altoona Mirror.
If you think about it though it isn't that hard to believe that Altoona would be a booming economy for something like this to happen. We live on two major highways 99 and 22. One only takes five hours to get to NYC where people can buy drugs for a 1/3 to even a 1/4 of the price that they sell for here in town. What is five hours and 50$ in gas compared to 300 to 400 percent profit on a thousand dollars. We are also just about right in the middle between Pitts and Philly. This is a prime place to set up shop. Altoona is not ready for it. The people that live here are still in a small town state of mind and the cops would rather not deal with the extra paperwork. (as in the case where my house was robbed by a herion addict and they did nothing even though there was a video tape of this person using one of the stolen credit cards) Some one gets arrested here they get a slap on the wrist. I know a person who got arrersted three times and nothing ever happened past that. I know a few that would make drug runs to Jersey because of the exchange rate. Girls would go alot because they weren't as suspicious as guys traveling that distance.
sorry if this was off the main topic but someone brought up gangs in altoona .. just speaking my mind about that part..
And i definately see the illegals thing being that out of hand. (more so if you count the children of those illegals)
how would they get a birth certificate or a social security number if they were a baby of two illegals? (if it was one they could just say they didn't know who the father was)

Yep, if a illegal mother has child is born in the country the child is automatically made a citizen, as are the parents. Nice law huh ?? Maybe they should change that .. I find this kind of infuriating. Mainly for the fact that the government is spending more money on a non citizens than they are full citizens ...RobTheDrummer wrote:Don't matter if their parents are illegal. The law says that whoever is born on US soil, they are American citizens. That's how they are bankrupting the welfare system and screwing taxpayers.
