A gi-tool. Yes it's a stupid name but it works. The swiss army knife for guitar players if you ask me. Screwdrivers, wrenches, cutters all in one little fold out tool. goes with me at every show.

A ground lift adapter. I've actually seen people try to plug something into a two post, ungrounded, recepticle and actually rip the ground plug right off the power cord. Don't ask me why they did it, but they did. With this trusty little adapter, plug it in, ground it by either screwing it to the middle screw (providing places don't have a bird by you doing this) or running a wire from it to something grounded.

Keith, our guitarist/keyboardist, actually brings a toolbox filled with goodies and can solder if need be. I too, carry a small set of tools I picked up from NAPA a few years ago that comes in handy (110 piece set in a plastic container). You never know when you have to rip something apart to fix it rushing against your starting time. In cases like these, every minute counts.

A cable tester......Enough said on that one.

Hell yeah! A real life-saver, especially if you use a Floyd Rose and need to find a hex wrench in a hurry. Do you know if they still make the Guitool? I haven't seen one in a store for a while. (Note: Don't confuse a Guitool with a GUI tool, which will only come in handy if you need to do some last-minute software development at your gig.)

Other must-haves for the six-string crew:

- Guitar picks, preferably in multiple sizes. If you don't need one, you can be sure that someone else will!

- Metal guitar slide. And maybe some gloves to protect your hands while fishing it out of the remains of all the broken glass slides at the bottom of your gig bag.

- Beer.

Remember to never... ever use a ground lift on a tube amp. Baaaad things can happen. Noise from ground loops should be fixed on the input side.
