Knowing that duct tape is the #1 necessity a band can't live without, I wanted to see what other things everyone uses that rank up there with it.

Trojan condoms, of course. What lead singer is without his trusty latex buddy for possible post-show activities?

Kidding aside, the main survival product for me is a ton of 9 volt batteries.

I'm glad I didn't have to fight in a war, I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody, I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood
This is turning into some impressive list let's see here:
Duct tape
preparation H
Super Glue
Condoms
the leafy love of mother nature
screwdrivers
spare drum heads
spare snare wires
WD-40
a Sharpie
Ricola,
extra guitar cables,
bottled water

a complete tool box
an LED maglite
a bottle of advil or Aleve
a ton of 9 volt batteries

You know we'd better get relief from the PLCB soon look how many industries would go belly up if we went out of business.

Just this ashtray. And this paddle game, the ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need... and this remote control... the ashtray, the paddle game and the remote control, and that's all I need... and these matches. The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control and the paddle ball... and this lamp. The ashtray, this paddle game and the remote control and the lamp and that's all I need. And that's all I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one - I need the paddle game, and the chair, and the remote control, and the matches, for sure. Well what are you looking at? What do you think I am, some kind of a jerk or something? And this! And that's all I need. The ashtray, the remote control, the paddle game, this magazine and the chair.
... and then the wheel fell off.

A ground lift adapter. I've actually seen people try to plug something into a two post, ungrounded, recepticle and actually rip the ground plug right off the power cord. Don't ask me why they did it, but they did. With this trusty little adapter, plug it in, ground it by either screwing it to the middle screw (providing places don't have a bird by you doing this) or running a wire from it to something grounded.
Keith, our guitarist/keyboardist, actually brings a toolbox filled with goodies and can solder if need be. I too, carry a small set of tools I picked up from NAPA a few years ago that comes in handy (110 piece set in a plastic container). You never know when you have to rip something apart to fix it rushing against your starting time. In cases like these, every minute counts.
A cable tester......Enough said on that one.

Hell yeah! A real life-saver, especially if you use a Floyd Rose and need to find a hex wrench in a hurry. Do you know if they still make the Guitool? I haven't seen one in a store for a while. (Note: Don't confuse a Guitool with a GUI tool, which will only come in handy if you need to do some last-minute software development at your gig.)Pure Evil wrote:A gi-tool. Yes it's a stupid name but it works. The swiss army knife for guitar players if you ask me. Screwdrivers, wrenches, cutters all in one little fold out tool. goes with me at every show.
Other must-haves for the six-string crew:
- Guitar picks, preferably in multiple sizes. If you don't need one, you can be sure that someone else will!
- Metal guitar slide. And maybe some gloves to protect your hands while fishing it out of the remains of all the broken glass slides at the bottom of your gig bag.
- Beer.
Different brand and name than mine, but basically the same thing
