My stage axes:
1994 Takamine EF-341C dreadnought acoustic, with cutaway. The black Bruce Springsteen model so common with country singers.
1992 Antares A-model mandolin w/ K&K Big Shot transducer, sunburst.
1958 Supro Studio Deluxe 6-string lap steel, black MOTS, named "Slee-um" after Marc "LC Slim" Prave, who gave it to me. This thing flat-out refuses to play anything but country. Possibly the nicest gift anyone ever gave me.
I also occasionally play a 1955 Oahu 6-string lap steel, white/phlegm-colored MOTS, named, "Delmer." Both the lap steels were made by a company called Valco, and have the famous string-through pickups, but sound vastly different... Delmer sounds amazing cranked up and overdriven as well as clean, and Slee-um would still sound like Hank Williams if I used it in a Metallica cover band.
My other axes:
2005 Rogue Classic Spider squareneck dobro.
1948 Oahu squareneck Hawaiian acoustic slide guitar.
1949-ish Regal 6-string lap steel, mahogany and maple, Bill Lawrence Les Paul pickup.
Yamaha F310 Dreadnought Acoustic.
60's Kent tenor acoustic.
1970's Penco concert-body acoustic, name-- "Girl," main guitar for most of my life, wrote about 300 songs on her. So named because she's my longest relationship, and because she's temperamental and difficult to manipulate.
1990's Lotus acoustic dreadnought.
1979 Peavey T-15 electric, ash body, 2 P-90 sounding pickups, short scale, great guitar.
2004 Samick Tele copy, Duncan humbucker and 2 lipsticks. One heavy-ass block of wood.
1990's BC Rich Bronze Series Warlock, black, a beater guitar that sounds surprisingly good for blues.
1993 Fernandes 1962 Tele copy. Turquoise color.
1994 Fernandes 70's Tele copy. Beige. Both workhorse guitars for cheap.
Late 80's Fender Squier Strat, heavily modded with Tex-Mex pickups, baby blue automotive paint, American Fender alder body, and pearloid pickguard.
Squier Affinity P-Bass, unknown age, used for recording demo's.
I also have a few other yard-sale finds, that I can't remember right now, and harmonicas by the dozen, and little odd instruments like recorders, a Harmonette, and a bunch of hand percussion.
Mostly I have cheap junk, but that's my thing.----------->JMS
