Grammar wrote:Hello Rockpagers; I am Captain Grammar. To you I shall be simply known as Grammar. I could no longer stand aside and watch certain members of this fine institution destroy what I hold most dear. My arch nemesis, No Surrender, has hatched a diabolical plot to corrupt all Rockpagers with run-on sentences and wildly misspelled words. Where there is a crime being commited, you will find me. Together we will take back what was once great, and rise to a new height of punctuation.
Capt. Gram Cracker.

There is no need for corrections on a musical site.

Most lyrics are naturally full of mistakes. This is a part of music.

I think your expert opinions are needed elsewhere.... Perhaps a Rap or Hip Hop discussion board. Those poor chaps are deperately in need of your services.

So... Swoosh your cape over your shoulder and pull up your tights. Off to those inner city East Side West Side sites and save those Pimp Cup holders and Hos from ruining your language.

After that please return and correct us for pissing on your language.

I love Captain Grammar. I wonder who he could be? I wonder what he'd think of my Upcoming Shows posts... my pseudo-molecular premptuosity, my dyspneal perspicuity, my ecumenical de-elevationalisms. Hell, I don't even know what I'm talking about, and I write it! :P ----->JMS

This is taken from www.Dictionary.com.

par·a·graph - Noun

1. A distinct division of written or printed matter that begins on a new, usually indented line, consists of one or more sentences, and typically deals with a single thought or topic or quotes one speaker's continuous words.

Your lines are not indented, but rather use the standard block format that is typical of electronic type. While you do have run-on sentences, they are still distinct due to your use of an ellipsis or spaces.

Captain Grammar,

There is no need for corrections on a musical site. Most lyrics are naturally full of mistakes: This is a part of music.

I think that your expert opinions are needed elsewhere, perhaps a Rap or Hip-Hop discussion board. Those poor chaps are desperately in need of your services.

So swoosh your cape up over your shoulders and pull up your tights. Go to those inner city East Side and West Side sites and save those escort service proprietor cup holders and promiscuous women (note: colloquial dialogue changed) from ruining your language.

After that, please return and correct us for urinating on your language (note: colloquial dialogue changed).

You're welcome.

Paragraph indentation is eliminated by the software involved in this site, presumably to save space. Indents are, therefore, off-limits.

Incidentally, your use of the word, "awe" was incorrect. "Awe" is a feeling of impressive amazement. "Aw," or "Aww," are both colloquially accepted forms of slang, in this case used to denote frustration.

You're welcome, no dictionary required. ------->JMS

Dear Captain Grammar:

You may want to reconsider your use of the colon. Even in APA and MLA formatting, you would need to indent after a colon in order to capitalize a word that follows it.

Very truly yours,

Well, there goes one of my suspects. Unless he is "arguing" with himself to throw us off track!

I surmise a program of some sort is actually making most of the corrections. Either that, or it's an English Teacher or Professor. :D

Captain Grammar, I have but one request. If you could please only correct no surrender, I feel that would be a sufficient lesson for all of us. You're only going to make everyone angry with you and you don't want to do that, do you? Thank you for considering my request.

Actually, you could have said you were going to use it to cleanse the end of your Colon.

Yes, I understand that. That is why I said that block format was acceptable. It is the standard used in most formal business letters and electronic type. Besides, my post was in response to Atomikenrtia's post that a paragraph must have at least three sentences.

Yes, you are correct. I did take APA, MLA, and even Chicago style into consideration, but as you can see, the primary reason of my existence is to correct the grammar of No Surrender. I feel as though that using academic formats may further confuse No Surrender, so my current goal is to simply have No Surrender form a cogent sentence. If I can accomplish that, I may then introduce more complex subjects into my grammatical exaiminations.

It's great to see so many people take an interest in proper English. Try a little Vitamin G in your lives.

The word is cognizant.

cognizant

adj : (usually followed by `of') having knowledge or understanding; "our youth are cognizant of the law"; "I am well aware of his limitations" [syn: cognisant, well aware(p), aware(p)] [ant: incognizant]

I appreciate the friendly parsing, guys. Anyone who is as passionate about grammar as I am is a not only a friend, but also an ally of the English language. Together, we could clean up this website.

For the record, I am not Grammar, either. I have stepped up my "fireman" duties and am "extinguishing flames" when they flare up on Rockpage; but I am not correcting grammatical errors.
