I am Captain Grammar
Hello Rockpagers; I am Captain Grammar. To you I shall be simply known as Grammar. I could no longer stand aside and watch certain members of this fine institution destroy what I hold most dear. My arch nemesis, No Surrender, has hatched a diabolical plot to corrupt all Rockpagers with run-on sentences and wildly misspelled words. Where there is a crime being commited, you will find me. Together we will take back what was once great, and rise to a new height of punctuation.

Pish, posh. Quite frankly, I have neither the time nor the energy to concern myself with such trivial matters. Mine is a quest for grammatical excellence here in this forum and this forum alone. Those who clutter the aisles and common areas of Sheetz stores in this region with a butchering of the English language shall be subject to a much greater punishment than I or any other master of the spoken and written word could ever deal out: They shall be hired by said Sheetz stores and, subsequently, will be forced to clean the cappuccino machines.Blain wrote:You're going to have your hands full. Maybe you should station yourself at one of the area Sheetz stores and correct everybody within earshot.

... dont most cappuccino machines self-clean themselves anymore? all you have to clean is the little dispenser where the cappucinno is produced?Grammar wrote:They shall be hired by said Sheetz stores and, subsequently, will be forced to clean the cappuccino machines.
not all that hard el-capitan grammar.
edit: spelling error.. said el-capital .. guess capitan and capital are too much alike anymore..

While I admire Mr. Grammer's intellect and command of the English language, his name is spelled with an "er" and we are not related. However, Captain Charisma is my second cousin.Jimi Hatt wrote:Wonder if he's related to Kelsey Grammer? Or better yet, Captain Charisma.
The preceding is a sentence fragment.Jimi Hatt wrote:Or better yet, Captain Charisma.

edit: and yes, i realize "it's not no surrender" is a double negative.. you're just going to have to deal with it on this one lolToonaRockGuy wrote:TRANSLATION: I am Captain Grammar. i think this sums it up pretty good haha
i think its great, maybe captain grammar can start showing up at shows every now and then.. just to prove it's not No Surrender (as if proper spelling, and grammar couldn't disprove it to being ns) but ya know..

Re: I am Captain Grammar
Actually, it technically is not a double-negative. No is used as part of the noun no surrender, whereas the preceding no is used as an adverb. Still, you need work on your capitalization and punctuation. Your second paragraph also contains a comma-splice. This can be corrected by either using a semi-colon or by creating an entirely new sentence.AtoMikEnRtiA wrote: edit: and yes, i realize "it's not no surrender" is a double negative.. you're just going to have to deal with it on this one lol
