Either blame it on youth or not being smart enough, but when you call someone a prick and tell them to fuck off, what do you think will happen.

You might be getting a little life lesson here.

What you might learn here could save your hide with nasty people who happen to populate our real world.

You might find out that in life when you tell someone to fuck off, they just might fuck you up instead.

I hope this lesson helped.

Dream Theater...one of the worst bands to come out of the 90's. Holy shit Fag, I think you're the only person I ever heard that from. If you don't like their music, that's cool. But to blow them off as "worst". Ya know, I rarely ever rip on someone's talent, but I saw you play at the Metro back in October and well, you have nothing to brag about. You were the bassist of My Dying Season, right? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'll admit, for playing punk and considering how young you guys are, you sounded O.K. Still, I'd bet you'd have some serious difficulty learning any of the songs on DT's cover list. Myung will leave you with your thumb stuck between the strings. He'd Kamikazee your ass. I guess the whole point I'm trying to make is "give credit where credit is due". I don't normally listen to Roy Clark, but I've heard him play and I'll be the first to say he's a phenomenal musician. Anyway, Fag, where'd you get that username? "Not that there's anything wrong with that".

Well now that we know the caliber of fags musical ability... all I've got to say is "consider the source" or maybe "he knows everthing and that's all he knows".

"Animal House"...gotta love it!
Bluto and his pronounciation of "holy shiT!" when the horse dies is one that always comes mind and another is while he's still upset about his brother's car - as in unjoe's sig. - the reply Flounder gets in answer to his question of what he should do is: "start drinking heavily". If only dealing with stress was that simple! :D

My favorite scene is when one of the guys is sitting on the steps playing an acoustic guitar and singing "I gave my love a cherry" for a bunch of girls. Belushi walks down the steps with a distressed look on his face, grabs the acoustic, smashes it into pieces and hands the parts back to him while quietly saying "sorry". We could use a little of that around here.

When I listen to Dream Theater, I always enjoy a huge bowl of Lima beans … with butter.

... and mashed potatoes.

I always liked the scene with the marching band blindly following the commandeered drum major right into the brick wall, with the trombone slides buckling, hilarious!

Agreed. There is no touching the musical ability of that band in a rock/metal setting. None.

"10,000 marbles, please?" The float turning into the Death Mobile with "Eat Me" written on it, all of the funny events that precipitated, such as the boy looking at a Playboy, a "Bunny" landing on his bed and the boy giving thanks...and Belushi, acting like a Pirate...

what a piss poor attitude

Your reacting to what I'm saying without reading it. Not fair. Not fair at all. Not all art is good art. And not all art is worth paying to see. I don't blindly support something based on what it is. I support it for it's quality.
My attitude has nothing to do with the show. (And the following is my opinion not chris' or bud's) The show is about live original music. Not live cover bands. Some of the people on our show do play covers or play in cover bands on the side. It's their gig. Some of them play covers because they have to. Some of them play them becasue they want to. But you won't see any of them rocking out a cover on our show, no matter how good it is. The show is for the origianal music that is . Period.
And that "piss poor attitude" as you put it comes from spending years going out to venues and watching bands that didn't give a rats ass about the what they were playing. If you are a cover band and you work hard at sounding good and putting on a good show, and you play music that I like. I will come see you. If you get up there and it becomes painfully obvious that you can't be bothered to practice or learn how to tune your instrument, then I think you need to stop kidding yourself and get off the damn stage.
And by the way exactly who the hell are you? Are you anyone I know that I should be concerned about how you want me to spend my money?

Wow, I agree with this statement 100%. This is what I've been saying for quite a while. Damn, first Killjingle says what I've always thought about the Metallica issue, and now you say what I've always been saying about hacks. I need to just shut up, because someone's going to eventually say what I'm thinking anyways. :D

...I'd still rather pay to see a mediocre band than pay to see a DJ, though.

Now, kissmydago, imagine, if you will, that the Underground TV show is cancelled, and replaced by a Dance Party U.S.A-type show... somebody spinning records while kiddies dance. We both know a show like that would be extremely cheap and easy to produce, and would likely score big in local ratings, I think probably more than a show featuring local original acts, as pathetic as that is. Channel 8 would be stupid not to go with Dance Party Cambria County... ratings equal ad revenue. The Underground has been boned by someone who simply aimed a camera at the booty-shakin', put on an MP3, and yelled, "Action!"
But wait, the Underground is a good show, valuable and artistic. It's creators not only produce the content of the show, they hustle it wherever they can, and they hustle for sponsors as well. Too bad. Find another outlet for the show, hey there's room for everybody on local TV. It's all good.
Now you know how a band feels, even a cover band. If you expect much love for DJ's here, you are expecting a lot. I have close friends who are DJ's... they gotta make a living too... but it's NOT THE SAME.

On another note, I'm going to your birthday gig, KMDA... hope I can buy you a drink, it's gonna be HISTORIC with that amount of talent in one room. Can't wait!----->JMS

If I'm going out, I'd rather hear a live band. Original or cover Bands, there's nothing like live Music!

Kmda, for me watching any movie, including Porn  isn't much fun if there's nobody to watch it with, but that's just me. Your birthday bash is going to be one kick ass time!

songsmith, I hope Crystal is going to City Limits, she and I had fun dancing last time! :D

OK
1) What are you talking about? i'm not supporting DJ's. I can't stand DJ's. The only time I ever end up at a place where there is a DJ is if I get dragged there kicking and screaming. I'm not dissing cover bands. I love Hexhed, PLUSH, and Whiskerbisket. They are all awesome cover bands. What I'm talking about is bands that are basically crap. Who don't give a piss about how the sound. And there are a few of those out there. Maybe not on this forum, but they are out there.

2) You have no idea how The Underground actually works. To actually pull of a dance show would cost way more then you think. The Underground TV is paid programming. Fox didn't give us that time slot because they thought we were so awesome. We pay for it and most of the time it's out of our own pockets. Don't get me wrong we love Fox they are SUPER DUPER GREAT! But they charge us to run the show and run commercials for the show. The Show is working in the negatives, meaning we don't make enough money to cover what we have to shell out to keep the show on the air. How long we can go on like that, I don't know. For now we're living on love and not a whole lot of anything else.

So what I am saying is The Underground is here to tell people to give live music a chance. Go be part of the live music scene. It's up to the musicians not to make them regret that they did.

Kissmy, I would think you shoud have more of the attitude of these distinguished rockpagers.

I am just a fan of live music. That is all I do. I do not ever go to a bar for any other reason than to see live music. I do not go to see untalented musicians.

All this talk about cover bands not being is the same category as original bands in your opinion is really interesting. What do you call a band that plays about 50% covers and about 50% original. I know of several really talented bands that do this. and in this area.

Do you just dismiss them cause they dare to play a cover in your presence?

Even the great bands play covers. Led Zepplin basically covers Robert Johnson's blues songs but with more volume and distortion. Would your show have ignored them?

I have probably seen about 300 recording bands in concert since 1969, and guess what , MANY do covers, sometimes as an hommage to another band.

Anyway, I'll buy you a birthday drink on Thursday. One year it was on my birthday. (29th). Us aquarians often do not get along.

We can't play covers without getting sued. It's that simple. Fox won't let us put covers on their station. We can't do it. Even if we wanted to play them we couldn't.
