Asinine Thread
I am a music fan. I do not like all kinds of music. I do appreciate excellence. I would whoop and scream all night for a musician who is playing the shit out of his (or her) instrument, even if it was music I personally do not like.kissmydagoass wrote:Wow, this is a ruff thread. I'm not liking the whole vibe here. Apperantly, from what everyones posts are saying, that unless you are in a band, you're not part of the scene. I think you guys need to go back an read your posts. Because I'm pretty laid back but even I'm getting a little pissed off by the musician superiority vibe going on here.I don't think there would be anything worth bitching about if all us bar patrons took there $5 and went to rent a couple movies instead. And while I'm not in a band, I do my part to get people out to see the bands I dig seeing. And let me just get this off my chest and this is directed at no one in paticular. Just because you are a musician and in a band, doesn't mean that it's worth listening to. I know people who have played their chosen instrument for years and it still sounds like someone's swinging a cat around by their tail. While I'm not knocking anyone for wanting to play music (i say play because cover bands do not create, I don't care how you try to twist it around) and I know all of you want to build a supportive community, you are kidding yourself if you think that every band playing out in every bar is A+ entertainment.
But, I would rather listen to bad musicians CREATING music with thier insturments than spend 1 second listening to a dj, even if he is playing my golden all time favs.
I hope this site will help promote local LIVE music, and dj's are poison to live local music.

If you want proof, Rob Bonsell took a picture of me at City Limits with JP's camera, and I'm throwing up the official Rockpage-innercity-gang sign.

Actually, we should all go to the hookah lounge in State College. The hookahs are for "tobacco use" only, but it's a relaxing experience, none the less. I normally don't smoke tobacco products, other than the occasionally stogie, but I do enjoy tobacco out of a hookah.
Actually, a Rockpage hookah trip doesn't sound like a bad idea. Hmmm....

Check this site out for a list of covers that have been done by Dream Theater. No talent bums. Must just be a lack of creativity.

Dream Theatre? arent they dead yet? i would actually have to agree w/ them being no talent bums even tho i'm sure u were being sarcastic...seriously they are one of the worst bands to come out the 90's.
finger deep in the borderline, show me that you love me and that we belong together, relax turn around and take my hand...
yeb, that's what the A&R man at the record company also said.HIMfag666 wrote:Dream Theatre? arent they dead yet? i would actually have to agree w/ them being no talent bums even tho i'm sure u were being sarcastic...seriously they are one of the worst bands to come out the 90's.

Are you confusing talent with your own personal tastes?
