ya know, i started out bein nice, i was just having a discussion (since this is the general discussion forum) and everyone else has been respectful and peaceful in posting their thoughts. someone need to pull felix and his hurricanes out of their ass.

hey, i can be real arrogant too...think you could hook me up w/ a band that has 2 cd's of original music and plays 240 shows a year? and i can drink like a champ too....think i meet the qualifications?

Whenever you start to compare a local band (irregardless of whether they play covers or original) to a Dj, I will jump all over your posts.

I am just a fan of live music, played and created by live musicians.

Keep talking trash about Felix. I wanna be there the day you meet all 6' 4'' and 230 pounds of him. Talk trash about his drummer too.

What band are you in, what clubs have you played, do you really know how our scene is here by busting ass every week playing your chops?

i was formerly w/ this dying season, who is now in pittsburgh, we played Katie's Place in Johnstown, City Limits, The Noteworthy, various all ages venues, and who the fuck are you question my credentials? i am a musicians and i had an opinion about a musical topic. if you want to know how ur amazingly awesome band got drug into this ask undercoverjoe or go backwards through the thread.

Listen up Jack, i do this for a living. You dont! Thats why i asked you where you been in this scene. You dont play it so you have no clue what goes on.

So has your band had to compete with DJ's, i guess not. My band and many others on here have lost gigs and money to undercutting prices from dj's. Yeah its food off our table so dont even try to rationalize with that one bud.

Wow, this is a ruff thread. I'm not liking the whole vibe here. Apperantly, from what everyones posts are saying, that unless you are in a band, you're not part of the scene. I think you guys need to go back an read your posts. Because I'm pretty laid back but even I'm getting a little pissed off by the musician superiority vibe going on here.

I don't think there would be anything worth bitching about if all us bar patrons took there $5 and went to rent a couple movies instead. And while I'm not in a band, I do my part to get people out to see the bands I dig seeing. And let me just get this off my chest and this is directed at no one in paticular. Just because you are a musician and in a band, doesn't mean that it's worth listening to. I know people who have played their chosen instrument for years and it still sounds like someone's swinging a cat around by their tail. While I'm not knocking anyone for wanting to play music (i say play because cover bands do not create, I don't care how you try to twist it around) and I know all of you want to build a supportive community, you are kidding yourself if you think that every band playing out in every bar is A+ entertainment.
