balanced

If you have a stereo unbalanced drumbox, and you hook a 1/4" TS to each L and R out, Y it to a 1/4" TRS, and hook into a balanced input... is this connection balanced?

thats what I thought. so the best way to convert unbalanced to balanced is...

direct boxes...?

Direct boxes are the simplest way. If you want "value added" you can get creative and take something like an equalizer with both unbalanced and balanced I/O and use that to equalize the sound AND step it up to balanced.
