That would be soooo cooool.Hurricane wrote:Thanksgiving night could and probably will turn into a big jam.
All RP jammers welcome!
If the GRIMM wants and could, i would love for them to come in and do a set, unless they are getting there own final show. Lets make this a night to remember for one of my fav places in the world to play!
I can't wait to see this happen.
I'm still sad. I ran into the person who's friend bought the place. She said they're turning it into a sports bar...

And I'm not saying that to knock the other establishments...just seems like those three places were the big names in taking a chance with "different" music.
Plus, I loved seeing the puppies....

Hopefully another room will eventually surface and fill the gap left by Peter C's.
The Altoona scene will live on. I've seen a few rooms come and go since I started doing this in 1987. When I first started writing about music, it was Coaches Inn (now City Limits), Cisco's (now a Red Lobster), The Tavern (now a parking lot), old Sebastiano's Hotel (now the Monkey Wharf), Aldo's, the 4D's, Pellegrine's, the Rodeo Lounge in Duncansville (burned down several years ago), Mike's Brass Rail in Duncansville (now Beerbellies). The Rossi brothers started the Wednesday jam night at the U.S. Hotel in Hollidaysburg a few months after I started writing. Peter C's was the Nitty Gritty Tavern back then, before becoming Peter C's in 1990. The Engine Room came and went. The Gingerbread Man/G-Man came and went. Chaser's in Tyrone came and went (it's now Fat Freddy's). CJ's Lounge in Claysburg had 15 minutes of fame before noise violations scuttled it (it's now Glenn's Place). The Hitching Post only started running bands a few years ago. Of course, Burgi's just came along recently.
Bottom line: bands come and go, and venues come and go as well. Change is a constant on this or any town's music scene. It might take a little while, but some other venue will probably rise up and fill the gap left by Peter C's at some point.

Definitely me. I'll be bringing the camcorder, to catch the music and the vibes in the house on this special night!
An interesting side note: I just learned last night that not only is Peter C's closing, but King's Family Restaurant across the street is cutting back their hours, they will only be open all nights on Friday and Saturday nights (I think starting in December). So the times, they are a changing on two fronts!

Good luck in your future endevors Big John,
i n f u s e d will forever be in your debt.
Our First show was on your stage opening for The Hurricanes in 2003
(btw Thank you Felix, Jeff, and Bob as well.)
There are so few venus in this area that are willing to let original rock bands play. Peter C's will be missed by all.
Thank you for all you have done for us and the local music community.
