No, Hendrix is considered a pioneer of rock guitar styles and a very soulful player, especially with intervals. You will see many amateur shredder-wannabes attack Hendrix and put down his playing as too simplistic.no surrender wrote:i've listened to some Yngwie. i wanted to get into it but i couldn't. i will try agin to see if i like it. i can't put mu finger on it but smthg didn't clik with me... (but will give all those a try on your advise)
Was Hendrix considered a shredder? Curious if do you guys consider him a good player??
NS, no, Indie rock is not shredding. Indie rock is a genre of rock characterized by a band signing with a small, independent label instead of a mainstream label (Arista, Warner Brothers), so they will have more control over their own music and their own career.no surrender wrote:another Q: what is 'indie rock" ?????? is that same a s shredding?
ok. Is "thrash" shredder? also what is 'progressive metal" and how does it differ from other two?ToonaRockGuy wrote:NS, no, Indie rock is not shredding. Most indie rock bands are not hard rock, they usually have some form of acoustic guitar in the songs, along with softer lyrics. Examples of "indie rock" bands are My Morning Jacket, Phantom Planet, The Pennies, The Flaming Lips, Nick Drake, Ryan Adams, Sunny Day Real Estate, Wilco, and Neutral Milk Hotel.
what is "sweeping"? possible this is what i don't like?bassist_25 wrote:I always thought that Yngwie was a very talented player who's also blessed with excellent composition skills, but he usually eschews those skills to wank on a bunch of sweeping. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with sweeping, but I wish Yngwie would "think out" what he plays. I think that his playing would have a longer lasting effect on the audience.
Of course, that's just my opinion.
thanks! you really no your shit! i never new Queensryche was progressive rock but i new smthg was different about them. i love them! i thot that what thrash was by the name. now i understand! your examples help me to ck out the different kinds of music. really much thanks !!!ToonaRockGuy wrote:Thrash metal is as fast, loud, and brutal as possible.
Progressive Metal is usually WAY more involved than simple 3-chord progressions. Prog-Metal bands write very involved songs, that usually have many key, time, and theme changes, and it's really "Musician's" music. Examples of Prog-Metal or Prog-Rock bands are Dream Theater, Symphorce, E.L.P., Rush, and Queensryche.
