With all due respect...

Thanks for the advice SongSmith,
but this wasn't a "big bad gnarly
deer", by any stretch of the imagination...I wouldn't have gone NEAR it, if it had been!!! It was VERY young and the very short time I petted it was at arm's length, with my fignertips. When it began to move it's legs, I moved back by my car...and when I saw it was okay and wasn't going to run into the road, but instead headed into the area it had come from, I left.
By the way, I do love animals, but I also love Venison!

"Putting kittens in an oven doesn't make them biscuits", Bwahahahaha!
I just LOVE that one!!!

Gotcha. When they're really little, they literally can't walk on a hard, flat surface like a road... it's cool to watch them gawkily hobble around, but not cool if they get hit.---->JMS

HUH?

"Gotcha"? I wasn't aware that anyone was trying to "get" me, LOL!
The deer never made it onto the road, it's head made contact with my car. I apologize for using the word "running", okay? Try not to take things so literal! It was quite wobbly and wasn't "running" anywhere when it got to it's feet...any way, this happened late September of last year, if you want to know the exact date, I can look it up and let you know, as I was on my way home from the Skynyrd concert at the Bloomburg Fair. My kids were with me too - yes, there ARE witnesses! My teenage daughter was awake, at least.
Being it wasn't what "simple, little ole me" considers a fully grown Deer and that you're a Deer "Genius" and all, maybe you can discern approximately how old it was? By the time of year, or whatever...

now now, calm down. I'm pretty sure JMS meant "Gotcha", as in, he understood what you were talking about in the previous post, and not "Gotcha", as in, "see, told you that you did something wrong."

Chipmunks actually are squirrels; they're a member of the squirrel family.

Not quite a roadkill story, but my older brother stepped on a rabbit once. It was night time, and he was carrying in groceries from the car when he felt something squash under his foot on the sidewalk. It was a young rabbit, either too sick or stupid to get out of the way.

Thanks for the clarification, Staceman and "mea culpa" or whatever the Latin phrase is...
and I apologize to Songsmith. I thought I'd read enough Posts, apparently not! In my life's experience, whenever someone has said "gotcha", they've been out to get me...I guess it stems from way back...being chased while playing hide and go seek or tag as a child?

I'm actually due to head on out on a bit of a mini road trip, but having that dreading it "feeling".
The car is an Enterprise weekend rental though, not the other one I'd had, so I should be okay! Wish me luck - NO wait, I don't seem to have much luck - wish the DEER luck!!! :P
