THE POLITICAL ARENA!!! Political Gladiators Inside!!
Good for you. Rockpage does seem to be a bit more evolved in that aspect. Maybe because so many great musicians are/were gay.
How does it feel to go down with that ship, though? I think we both understand that social conservatives are on the wrong side of history on the issue of rights for certain groups (gays, women, other religions, ethnic and racial groups, workers, etc.) LBJ coming out in favor of blacks led to the Civil Rights Act and was a watershed moment in civil rights history. I truly believe the generation after me is less bigoted, ask your kids. There will always be giggles and such about gay people (hell, there are lots of giggles about men vs. women), but they just feel differently than us, or our parents.

As I have explained, I am not really a conservative, I am a libertarian.
That means whatever it takes to get as close to zero government intrusion as possible. From a government fiscal point of view, it seems conservative. From a personal freedom (social of a sort) point of view, it seems liberal.

Just for your information, southern democrats (including your beloved Al Gore's father) voted against the Civil Rights Act. If it was not for republicans, it would not have passed.songsmith wrote:LBJ coming out in favor of blacks led to the Civil Rights Act and was a watershed moment in civil rights history.
"The same-sex marriage issue is a private issue. And yes, the individual has a right to marry.
Who the hell is the government to allow or forbid private people to establish their own voluntary associations, relationships, contracts and marriages?"

"Each individual has an inherent right as a human being to one’s life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, as long as one doesn’t interfere with anyone else’s same right.
Based on this right of self-ownership, each individual has an absolute natural right to do with one’s life, one’s person and property as one wishes, as long as one is peaceful. Unfortunately, statists and politicians do not understand this.
In my view, the individual owns one’s own life.
The community in which you live does not own you, your neighbors do not own you, the State does not own you.
You own you. "

First Obama is for gay marriage, then he is against gay marriage, then he is for it again. Since he is a liberal he is "Evolving", but if he was a republican, he would be flip-flopping. Explain that one.
I am not for it, I won't support it. I am voting morally and according to Obama's record (His failed record). Since he is for gay marriage and I am a social conservative (And he is a failure), I will not and can not support him.
All this stuff is is nothing but a distraction to try and get people to look away from his record. This election is not fully about what he thinks of gay marriage, or abortion. It is more about the Economy, Jobs, Gas Prices, Foreign Affairs, and taxes. None of which the liberals want to talk about because they know it makes him look bad. Yawn!

"Really? Those soldiers are out there fighting “ON MY BEHALF”? Good Lord! Doesn’t anyone in the media know how to spell the word egomaniac? Shouldn’t we wonder about the state of mind of a person who would use the word “my” instead our “our” or “the nation’s” when describing the sacrifice of men and women in the armed forces?
This was not some slip of the tongue. Such egocentrism in major policy statements has become a pattern for Obama – not only a pattern of speech, but a pattern of behavior. Obama’s obsession with putting “me” at the center of everything has become one of the hallmarks of his presidency.
No one should be too surprised by Obama’s cynical use of the military as a prop for announcing a change in his policy toward gay marriage. Other presidents, Republicans and Democrats, have sometimes used an audience of soldiers or a military installation as backdrops for political statements. But this is different. Obama believes they are out there fighting not for the country, not for their homes and families, but for him.
We can’t help but recall his attempt at taking all the credit for the Navy SEALs’ killing of Osama bin Laden. He used the word “I” over a dozen times in describing the planning and execution of the joint CIA-military project to locate and then kill bin Laden. He deliberately put himself at the center of the successful enterprise, both in the news conference when it happened and again last week on the anniversary of the event. Can anyone imagine Eisenhower doing that in describing the successful D-Day landing in Normandy? We now know that Eisenhower had prepared a letter of resignation to be used if the Normandy invasion failed. Can anyone imagine Obama doing that?
If you think I am exaggerating the significance of this Obama penchant for self-aggrandizement, consider how different the course of the 1960s would have been if John F. Kennedy had launched his presidency with this theme in his inaugural address: “Ask not what your country can do for you, and ask not what you can do for your country. Ask what you can do for me!”

Just for your information, the Southern Democrats were neoconservative. The flip-flop is a distinctly conservative phenomenon. Read a book.undercoverjoe wrote:Just for your information, southern democrats (including your beloved Al Gore's father) voted against the Civil Rights Act. The people of North Carolina just voted against gay marriage. Are you pretending that opposition to gay marriage is a liberal thing? If so, your fantasy-world must be a very lonely place.undercoverjoe wrote:"The same-sex marriage issue is a private issue. And yes, the individual has a right to marry.

The fundamentalist "Christians" oppose gay marriage. You cannot be a liberal fundamentalist "Christian," you will be drummed out of your church. Fundametalist "Christians," including Catholics and evangelical Protestants, define themselves as social conservatives.
This pretend game, where the haters pretend the other side hates more, is nothing, if not goofy. And it doesn't work. You can say the sky is plaid, a million times, and some wingnuts will believe it, but all the rest of us have to do is... look up.
No. President Barack Hussein Obama is the Commander-In-Chief of the armed forces. Military leaders often say they are fighting on the Commander-In-Chief's behalf. David Petraeus said it regarding G-Dub. Was he wrong? This is a cut-and-paste job from an opinion-blog. Obama's use of the phrase is no more harmful than Lew Rockwell's use of the phrase, "Good Lord!" How does he know the Lord agrees with him?undercoverjoe wrote: "Really? President Barack Hussein Obama made the final call to kill Osama Bin Laden. Many of those in attendance when the now-famous picture was taken in the War Room, now admit they were apprehensive, to say the least. They either did not believe Bin Laden was there, or that the SEAL team would be successful. He was, and it was. Conservative hero George W. Bush had the chance to take out Bin Laden at Tora Bora. He let him go. He stated famously that he wasn't too concerned with Bin Laden, and history accounts it. Bill Clinton had the chance to ice Bin Laden as well, in Africa... the conservative Congress and conservative media called it "wagging the dog," and chastised him for attempting to act, "unilaterally."undercoverjoe wrote: Other presidents, Republicans and Democrats, have sometimes used an audience of soldiers or a military installation as backdrops for political statements. If they were unsuccessful, it would have been the end of the Obama presidency. Huey, you would have been the loudest em-effer in this forum, screaming to high heaven about Big Bad O's ineptitude as Commander, and you can deny that all you like. We know.
He gambled. He sent very dangerous men to do a difficult job. Even with a helicopter crash, they still maintained, and did the job... but they had the entire military behind them, and I'm sure they would tell you that. That military has a leader, and that leader did a great job when guys like you didn't give a shit. How telling it is that YOU have a problem with it.

Btw, They werent watching anything in that room,it was just a photo op.
Our tech failed again that day. They didnt get to see much of anything and certainly not bin laden on the tv. Hilary Clinton even said so.
Weird huh? Greatest technology in the world, and it just happened to mess up during an important operation. Really??? Wow, first 911, then this?
Do you research into the whole bin laden thing. Pretty interesting.
Why were there no pics, no video, no body and no confirmation??
They FINALLY released a photoshopped pic and got caught. Weird huh??? Why would they do that?!
He had to take a dialysis machine everywhere with him even years ago. He wasnt well. He wasnt running around a country club for years....he was in the desert. There were reports that he has been dead for years. Makes sense on his backwards aging videos. He got younger as time went on in his videos. Weird huh??
Then theres the helicopter crash. convenient huh?
Research.

Seal Team 6 murdered, so no one can question them. Convenient. There is no investigation of who exactly ordered the Seal Team 6 false "mission" where they were all murdered. All the media silent on this.KeithReynolds wrote:Btw, They werent watching anything in that room,it was just a photo op.

Okay, this is where this fucking bullshit STOPS. When you try to take away the hard-fought VICTORY of SEAL Team 6, and claim it never happened, you insult some of the baddest muthafuckers on the planet. Then you claim they were all MURDERED, and not simply maintaining secrecy? Where the hell are the veterans in this thread? Who's going to defend the SEALs? Will you all let your hate for Obama override what they accomplished?undercoverjoe wrote:

This a new fucking low, even for you two mental pieces of shit. Lock this fucking thread.
So then tell us asswipe, who ordered Seal Team 6 on the false mission. Who told them to abandon their usual protocol when flying? Who told them to fly in helicopters they do not normally use? Show us pictures of Osama if you have em asswipe clown.songsmith wrote:Okay, this is where this fucking bullshit STOPS. Fuck you, you conspiracy nut. I'm ashamed to even be on the same page. The SEALs fight for your right to spout lies and conspiracies. Go ahead and cheapen what they do, so people get your number.
You'd rather defame the elite fighting force that does all the most difficult jobs for the US, than admit that they achieved something, all because you can't accept the political reality of it. I have always been right about you.
What I can't believe, is why nobody is defending SEAL Team 6 on this.
Shameful.

Why do you believe the stories coming out of the White House? You did not believe them when W as pres. But now you believe anything the government tells you. Chugggg that koolaid asswipe.
Admit you are a mindless asswipe for this illegal government or produce pictures and video tape of the SEALs taking down Osama. Should be easy for a true believer like you.
Then tell us who ordered the SEAL team onto the fake mission that had them murdered a few weeks after the Bin Ladin raid. Tell us why they broke all their SOP rules and flew on non SEAL coptors with non SEAL pilots.
You think you have the answers to everything else,
, so now it's time.

FUCK YOU.
You have zero proof of ANYTHING you're foisting on us, and I'm not going to waste my time on disproving something so profoundly false and hurtful. Obviously, the SEALs work in anonymity and secrecy, and breaking that code will get you thrown in the brig forever. There's nothing to prove to INSANE DOUCHEBAGS like you, who would sacrifice these men's achievements for his own sick fantasies. Again, if you say the sky is plaid, I do not have to prove you wrong, I just have to look UP.
Take your paranoid dementia, and your deranged ramblings, and shove them up your ass.
You're sick. Get help.

Wow, look at the Rockpage heroes going at it again....sad.
How about both of you open your AOL accounts and IM each other.
Nobody gives a fuck about your little love quarrel.
No wonder this site is the same old fucking people
anymore because of these two.
How about you both take some time off from the site and let it grow, you both could use a break and so could Rockpage.
Signed the moral majority.

Your opinion is noted. My only question is, with over 380 pages and each page containing 30 different threads, why do you care about this one.
There are over 11,000 threads on General Discussion here. No one is making anyone open this thread. This is about 1/100 of 1% of the available threads, don't open it if you don't like it.
