No Johnny, that is called a Superiority Complex and, in this context, is the antithesis of your entitlement complex.songsmith wrote:Relax, Jeffy, I was talking about your entitlement complex. Thanks for making my point better than I ever could. Nobody makes more money, is smarter, works harder, etc., than you.![]()
I think you just learned something about yourself.
Nah, probably not.
Its not hard to get a superiority complex whilst debating you.
BTW, I don't work. I play guitar and video games all day. Now excuse me whilst I go and slay the Royal Cavalry.

You can do all that anytime you want...just as soon as you figure out how to run a tax-paying business that merits taking people out to business dinners all the time.songsmith wrote:When I can pay taxes only on my net profits, and have the ability to manipulate what that number is, when I no longer have to pay sales tax... when I can deduct every meal I eat, all my utility bills, and every mile I drive, it will be "fair."
Good luck with that.

Hey, don't you two pop a rotator-cuff patting yourselves on the back.

While I'm working Thursday, I wonder if you fella's could answer me a small question... what is it I've said I'm entitled to? Not money, I never complain about my money situation, especially online... I do want fair pay for everybody, and hate greed. Maybe I feel entitled not to get screwed, maybe that's what you're whining about. I don't know what I feel entitled to that I don't already have: wife, jobs, house, transportation, pretty good gigs, artistic freedom and validation, lots of friends... I'm living the dream. I don't make a pile of money, but I don't need much. I can schedule work around gigs, not many guys can do that, it's better than money to me.
I think maybe you guys are just pissy because I feel no need to kiss your ass. I think you both feel ENTITLED to the final say, the last word on every subject, and I defy your imagined authority.
That must be frustrating.

I said it so long ago I can't find it. Back when the Republican field was wide open.
Romney will be the Republican candidate. The people behind the scenes (the 1% if you will) already set it in stone. Gingrich will be selected to be the VP. It seems obvious that Gingrich is already being set up to be the pit bull that Romney needs for vicious attacks / lies against Obama while Romney can "look" presidential.
That pairing is the most likely available Republicans who could beat Obama. The 1% really don't want Romney (so we're told) But he's already in their pocket, even Linbaugh knows it. But with the far far right supporting Newt and getting independents and conservative (Reagan) Democrats behind Romney they could win the election.
I believe this pairing was set in stone along time ago and it is the Republicans manipulating the process (like taking down Cain) to make it happen.

Now we see where your venom comes from. You do not like it when non-liberals like Lonewolf or myself have the nerve to state our opinions. YOU always want to have the last word. Well you did for years on here with your incomprehensible leftist rants. Now that quite a few of us here point out how absurd your positions always are, you are down right pissed. Too bad.songsmith wrote:...and the other "authority" chimes in.undercoverjoe wrote:Is there anything more hypocritical than a big government liberal telling someone who is self sufficient that he has an entitlement complex?

Hey, don't you two pop a rotator-cuff patting yourselves on the back. While you both were prattling on about self-sufficiency on the internet, I was working another ten-hour, and another tomorrow. Service calls in Maryland and Somerset County yesterday on pipe organs, refinished a pool table and worked the "part-time retail" today.

Its my First Amendment right to be able to state my opinion, and that clearly bothers you. You feel entitled to have to only opinion on politics in this thread.
Your entitlement complex is evident in your posts wanting more taxes to be paid be anyone richer than you. You have such a class and wealth envy problem. Would you be happier if your boss had to pay much higher taxes to your government, but that resulted in your getting fired?
Quit trying to feel better about yourself by being generous with other people's money.

How do you think they'll knock Newt off his perch? All his laundry has been aired, so there's not much they can do. The only thing I can think of is that Newt is an intelligent, conservative version of Joe Biden and might open his mouth one too many times.Hawk wrote:I said it so long ago I can't find it. Hey Bill.... They'll lie about Obamma???? Who needs to lie. The truth about his record as Pres. is horrid enough. Who needs to lie?????????? Lonewolf is right in that Newt's laundry is aired and open. Really very little is needed to punt this CLOWN out of office. Of co urse the only party that can screw this one up is the Republicans themselves. But then incompetence is the only thing with at which Washington excells.

What do all of you think of this act, specifically the provision that might allow for indefinite detention of U.S. citizens:

Who said I was pissed? You're flattering yourself. The reality is, you tend to embarass yourself with rages against any opinion that differs from your own, and you assume some sort of authority. I defy that authority, and verbally flip you off, usually with language outside your vocabulary, mostly for entertainment.
The rest of us attempt political conversation, and I'm actually one of the few left here who will converse with you. Your idea of conversation is to insult someone into submission, so I do it to you, in turn. That's the reality.
Your First Amendment rights pertain to the US gov't, not me, or Rockpage. You are here at the leisure and benefit of one Ron Nearhoof. He can bounce you for any reason. According to your own personal politics (if you were black, a business could discriminate against you, correct?)undercoverjoe wrote: Its my First Amendment right to be able to state my opinion, and that clearly bothers you. Your opinion doesn't bother me. Your inability to distinguish it from fact, and your idea that it is law... that bothers everybody.
You're dreaming. I bet I'm a way happier person than you. I think YOU have a class-envy problem. You saw those "lazy, useless" people who never work, they have all the time in the world, and they get fed and housed... and you thought, "Why can't I do that, too?" When I hear guys like you complain about the welfare crowd, I always get that "must be nice" vibe, not "I bet that would suck."undercoverjoe wrote: Your entitlement complex is evident in your posts wanting more taxes to be paid be anyone richer than you. And when did I ever say "richer than me?" I often mention guys making tens and hundreds of millions of dollars, but you hear what you want to hear.
?
What the hell is that even supposed to mean? Are you happier now that your boss fired you so he could keep his job and get a big bonus? Do you think he should get a tax break on top of that?undercoverjoe wrote: Would you be happier if your boss had to pay much higher taxes to your government, but that resulted in your getting fired
Once again, what the hell are you trying to say? How would fair taxation for someone else make me feel better about myself? Is it because you think I claim responsibility when someone is forced to do the right thing?undercoverjoe wrote: Quit trying to feel better about yourself by being generous with other people's money.
You are a strange man.
Now tell me, if my mother still works fulltime at age 67, why do you deserve not to. Please don't tell me it's because you worked harder, because you OBVIOUSLY did not. Please don't say it's because you're smarter, because, well...
Tell us all why you deserve to stay at home and harass people on the interwebs, and other people have to bust their hump.
Is this a lie ? Romnay quotes Obama but fails to say Obama was quoting MeCain. A lie by omission IS a LIE. And so we begin.
Romney does a TV commercial quoting Obama from Obama's campaign, “If we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.”
What Romnay failed to say was what Obama actually said, “Senator McCain’s campaign actually said, and I quote, ‘If we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose. "
This is from the NY Times but you can find it anywhere, including the commercial itself.
NY Times:
In the ad, Mr. Obama is heard declaring, “If we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.”
Left out was the context for Mr. Obama’s comment, which he made during the 2008 presidential election — he was talking about his opponent, Senator John McCain of Arizona. What Mr. Obama said was, “Senator McCain’s campaign actually said, and I quote, ‘If we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.’ ”

Lies
Hey good catch Bill. That sure is earth shattering. While you are at it try applying the same level scrutiny to the present administration of maybe VP Joe Biden. Remember his rape is up, violent Crime is up bull meant to scare the people into pressuring Congress. Now all that was all proven to be completely false by many reasonable organizations. If you focus on the present clowns you'll be too busy to unearth such gems with Romney.
. Not like I'm suspect of both parties and the whole corrupt mess....

How is a tax fair when 50% of workers do not pay federal income tax? johnny, you know this from a personal experience. You posted that you have even received an income tax "refund" even when you did not pay federal taxes.
So what is this fair tax bit you post about?
If you want everybody to pay some taxes, then you might be talking about a fair tax.
Only weasels cry about the rich paying more taxes even when they pay zero.

Actually, you're completely wrong. On every point. Some of it, you actually fabricated yourself. Because not only are you nuts, but you're a liar, as well.undercoverjoe wrote:How is a tax fair when 50% of workers do not pay federal income tax? johnny, you know this from a personal experience. .
First: Go ahead and fetch that post where I supposedly said I get an earned income tax credit. Find it.
Now, assuming I got it, can you then prove I get it all the time?
Also, find the post where I said I get a refund, even though I don't PAY.
In addition, don't pull a Romney, post the whole quote. Remember other things I've posted several times, like how I have extra money pulled out of every paycheck (it was on your W-4 form, back when you worked, I've done it since the early 80's so I get a refund, not a bill). Find that quote where I admitted I actually claim band income (I do).
Now, I'm going to tell YOU something bully-boy:
I'm still not intimidated even a little bit by you, or anyone else in the Rockpage Braintrust. Worry about your own finances, like HOW IS UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION TAXED?
And answer the burning question, because we all want to know:
WHY ARE YOU ENTITLED TO SIT ON THE GOV'T DOLE AND COMPLAIN ABOUT OTHERS? The rest of us have to work, and you lay around, rationalizing it, like a Teaberry Street meth-mom. Go away, and let the rest of us have a conversation.

If the 50% freeloaders actually paid taxes, it would generate revenues at the rate of about $2.5 billion per year if they paid just $1 per week in taxes.undercoverjoe wrote:How is a tax fair when 50% of workers do not pay federal income tax? johnny, you know this from a personal experience. Many hands make light work.
This is the kind of thing that Newt Gingrich would blurt out, lol.

Re: Lies
Um, yeah... Remember the Shirley Sherrod case last year? Andrew Breitbart, world-famous rightwing-blogger made her sound racist, and didn't use the whole clip? Or when he did it with ACORN, and neglected to disclose that they called the cops as soon as the actors left?Blue Reality wrote:Hey good catch Bill. That sure is earth shattering. Or remember "I voted FOR the Iraq War, before I voted against it?" from John Kerry in '04" No? How about, "I'm finally proud of my country" from Michelle Obama... and not one rightwing media outlet would play the 30 seconds before that.
Rightwing media INVENTED the out-of-context and/or misinformative soundbite. They still do it every day.
Fail.
I wouldn't know. I still haven't spent a half-hour watching any show on MSNBC, total. Only fundamentalists need constant re-education and validation via propaganda.
I only know the obvious stuff like what I pointed out. Righties are always willing to accept such things without question, they've been pre-conditioned.

yo stumpy, the Earned Income Tax Refund IS for those who don't pay income tax. It is pure, straight, 100% direct government welfare payment from those who do pay income taxes.
You posted it, I don't have to prove where and when, you did. I am not the only one who remembers you posting that.
As others have pointed out, unemployment compensation, of which I used to receive, is from the money taken out of every paycheck in case you are unemployed. I paid into that fund for 40 years, and every penny I received is money I put there. I never came close to recovering what I paid into that fund for 40 years.
Even morons like you should be able to understand the difference. But you refuse to, it makes for better ideological (although incomprehensible in your case) rants.

I think it sucks, that's what I think. It also demonstrates that both major parties are more concerned with authoritarian control rather than having our best interests at heart. This is what trading freedom for security is all about. It's an outrage. Liberty minded folk everywhere should be very wary about this.Merge wrote:Thanks for chiming in, everyone.Merge wrote:What do all of you think of this act, specifically the provision that might allow for indefinite detention of U.S. citizens:

Wiki doesn't have the specific text of the amendments in question, so I can't really chime in on it. What the ACLU and others say about something and what something really is or is not are often two different things.Merge wrote:Thanks for chiming in, everyone.Merge wrote:What do all of you think of this act, specifically the provision that might allow for indefinite detention of U.S. citizens:

What I can say is that the present law has been in existence for 10 years and the ACLU has already taken several of its provisions to the Supreme Court. If they are concerned about this provision, then they should bring it before the Court as well...if they haven't already done so and lost.
Aside from that, its just an appropriations bill. I'm sure we could find a lot of things to cut from it.
