I'm glad you think you're the better man. You would not take that which someone told you and (even though you didn't use his name) tell others what he said about a fellow musician ?

I'm sure your / our friend, when he made this negative comment (about a third party), said, "Joe, go tell this to anyone you want to."

I on the other hand repeated verbatim something said about, not a third party, but to me and about me. You took what you heard and spread it like a gossipping hen.
I don't think he cared who knew. Only dicks post private email messages on a public forum. And you did this to a good friend. How do you treat your enemies?

Bill, don't pretend its your friend who said it, you don't know and your guess was wrong.

Mr. I spell perfectly therefor I will point out Bill's misspelled / wrong words joe. I'm glad to see Ron has "donators". LOL

Didn't you go on a huge rant this past summer about liberals not being welcome on your property and how you want to oppress them 'n all that? I don't really think of myself in terms of "liberal," but it's safe to say that I'm one of the "others" to you. Yeah, I'm going to go to your house to talk politics. Good attempt at trying to give me the invite, knowing I wouldn't accept, and then using that to paint me as yellow-bellied (yellow-bellied is a colloquialism that means "scared," if that's too big of a word for ya).

Where did I compare anyone's musical skills? For the record, I think they're all talented guys. I said you align yourself with people whom most agree with you. It's called groupthink (and before you go there, I knew what that word meant before I learned it at da big skool where I gotch me ma learnin'). If Johnny politically agreed with you, of course you'd be following him around like a fanboy. In the words of the great Charles Sheen: "Duh!"

Both Jason and Scott have advocated for a minimalist government, but I sincerely apologize if I misrepresented either of thier political phlilosophies. I've never really talked politics with Scott other than a few posts here, but I've always respected Jason as an intellectual, even though I don't necessarily agree with his positions - the same with Jeff. They actually have well-thought out arguments and don't need to resort to such clever arguments as "Duuur! Government Bad! Ahh Joey, now I know why Johnny and Bill like to argue with you. It's fun in a sort of Jim Varney move type of way - perhaps not all that intellectually or culturally stimulating, but a good way to spend some down time between important life tasks. :D

This thread is cracking me up.

But, it is like this - Polls mean crap. If that was the case, then Huckabee would have been nominated in 2008; so the straw polls are nothing. Ron Paul will not make it past the primaries. The nominee, I think (notice it is my opinion) will be Romney or Perry.

Any sensible person should know that polls mean shit. You can't go by them, which is why most of the politicians, including Obama, doesn't pay attention to them.

Sorry if I didn't use any big enough words. My thesaurus is in the other room.

Perhaps you talked to him in a private conversation with maybe some other people around. Did you ask him if he minded you spreading gossip and giving out his name as the source ? I bet not...

This makes me giggle to see joey flailing around in his own sick like this. I should let up, but I won't, it's like holding a magnifying glass on an ant that just won't quit trying to ruin your picnic.
Okay, Baby Huey, here's the deal on my being the "weakest link" in any band I'm in:

Of course I am, dumbass.
Of course.

Ask around. I surround myself with good players, create a team, point a direction, and we all work to get there. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but that's the deal. Teamwork isn't something you'd understand, it's a concept that flies far above the heads of people who think the world owes them respect and authority simply because they are joey.

How do you measure up on the local music scene, joey? How's YOUR band doing? You can't really question my musical achievements, because you have none. You're shooting blanks once again. How's the guitar-playing coming? I do that. Do you play harmonica? I do that. Do you play bass? I do that. Do you play keys? I've written several songs on keys. Mandolin, dobro, lap steel? Done, done, done. Do you book your non-existent band? I do that. Do you sing lead and multiple harmony positions? I do those. How about setting up the PA? I design those. Can you mix a band? I did that professionally for 5 years, with national acts, no bar bands. Do you promote and market your band? I do. How about your peers, do they ask you to sit in? Mine do. Ever get any airplay? I've had lots, starting in 1985. Do you write songs? I've been doing it since age 8 (39 years), have over 500, and I'm in the most creative period of my life RIGHT NOW.
Can you answer yes to even one of those questions? No you can't, you're just a frustrated Superfan. Perhaps you can use this post for one of your usual twisty deals where you attempt to paint me as a raging egomaniac, but nobody will pay attention, and I'll go on being a musician, and you won't.
Maybe next time you think you're going to compare peckers with me, you'll figure out that you pee sitting down, and give it a second thought. This is a MUSICIAN'S forum, for MUSICIANS. Thanks for coming to see US play, WE appreciate your attendance. Politically, though, you can go f**k yourself, let someone else get a word in edge-wise. This isn't your site, it's a MUSICIAN'S website.

This is what I'm missing now that I'm working again?

To tell you the truth, driving to Buffalo and back for a couple of weeks has pretty much forced me to listen to different things on the radio since radio sucks. Listening to the guys on Fox News Radio reaffirms the notion that if someone speeks slowly and clearly, they will always have someone listening to them, because people want to hear bullshit. Glenn Beck is a very talented public speeker, but he sounds more and more like someone who wants to start a religious crusade then talking strictly politics.

I agree and disagree with things on both sides of the argument, but when some of these "passionate" radio hosts don't report BOTH sides of the argument, just run down the other side, it devalues the entire political process. MSNBC isn't quite as extreme as FOX, but they are just as guilty of spinning facts to further their agenda. I didn't like the Hannity and Colmes show, but at least they attempted to see BOTH sides of the argument.

I want to ask a question on this thread just to see if it turns into the same thing the political conversation has turned into, because this isn't a political thread anymore, it's a thread to throw insults around.

Here's the question:

"Do you think there should be a playoff instead of the BCS?"

Like I said Joe. The fact that you told me the story was unimportant to me. I'm just wondering why you enjoy spreading the gossip ? Who told you is also unimportant to me. So why do you care if I know him (I do) or not ?

It all comes back to Schadenfreude (delight in seeing others fail - a rough translation) which is directly tied to low self esteem. Does spreading said gossip make you feel like a man ?

Did you find a "donator" to back a wager ?

Schadenfreude. Exactly what Joe enjoyed doing to Johnny. It's not that hard to understand why people enjoy Schadenfreude. One doesn't need to be an expert to understand why they do it.

He did it to me, making an entire post to point out I misspelled a word.

So I did a little Schadenfreude myself. "Donator". Not a nasty "punch" like Joe though, spreading gossip...just a little jab.

Yes, there should be a playoff. Div. 1 football is the only major college sport that doesn't use a playoff system to determine a national champion.
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

What is so funny reading this crap is that someone that you really admire once said about you is that you are the weakest link in any band you have ever been in. You did not include that in your bragging about yourself. Your favorite hobby, talking about yourself. You are so in love with yourself that a new term should be used for you, autosexual.

Good disguise there, pulling off the marriage thing in public. It fools most of them. Best way to hide your true sexuality in that arrangement.

There is absolutely no way I would ever lower myself by comparison to you. Disgusting thought.

You are the epitome of the Napoleon complex, just add extreme layers of ego, self aggrandizement and douchery. This is a political thread and you go on and on about you. Who the fuck cares?

I don't go out to see you play, or Paul for that matter because I enjoy good musicians. There are some great musicians in your band, but your presence negates it all.

I simply posted an abbreviated version of my musical resume... last week, that was an awesome thing, this week it's not, I guess, Mr. Flip-Flop.
I could post "I AM the weakest link in any band I'm ever in!" a thousand times, and your reply would be, "Yeah, but someone you admire says you're the weakest link in any band you're ever in!" It's like you don't even get how embarrassing you are to yourself. Incidentally, how's YOUR band? Dream on, Fanboy.
Oh, and I brag about that admirable person's band alot. And I hope I'm ALWAYS the weakest link, it raises the bar for everyone else.

undercoverjoe wrote: Good disguise there, pulling off the marriage thing in public. It fools most of them. Best way to hide your true sexuality in that arrangement.
Coming up on 20 years, and not a single PFA. How about you? Who has YOUR back?
undercoverjoe wrote: There is absolutely no way I would ever lower myself by comparison to you. Disgusting thought.
No comparison. You couldn't carry a real musician's guitar case. We work together, you're an insane narcissist.
undercoverjoe wrote: This is a political thread and you go on and on about you. Who the fuck cares?
You care. You keep bringing up my musical qualifications, Superfan. I just play music, and you listen to music.
undercoverjoe wrote: I don't go out to see you play, or Paul for that matter because I enjoy good musicians. There are some great musicians in your band, but your presence negates it all.
OH NO!!! What am I going to do without a Superfan?!!!! Oh, my career is OVER!!!!
I don't have to be all that good at music to win in this pissing contest. Tune up any instrument you want, climb up onstage, and do something that even grade-school kids can do: play music with a group... or sit down, and shut your mouth, and clap politely when the song's over. Everybody else in this conversation has one undeniable thing in common: they jump into the trenches and bang out what they can, and deal with things you could NEVER deal with. They PAY THEIR DUES, and earn the right to an educated opinion. Your musical resume consists of,"I saw some classic-rock bands in college," and while mildly interesting, it qualifies you as nothing more than... Superfan.
