I agree that the quote "99%" are not represented very well, and yes, we all are probably taking it up the @$$ a little bit, but I certainly am not blaming my financial issues on the 1%, or bankers, or whoever. If I don't want to risk losing my money, I simply don't invest.

One exchange comes to mind. I was still living in Altoona, working at the Weis over by the mall. It was not long after things crashed and people were losing their nest eggs. I did not have much in my 401k at the time, so I was still making money in it due to what I was putting in, and what Weis was matching. One of my stockers showed me his 401k. He told me that he had been losing money for however many periods straight, but still refused to alter how it was invested, or even pull it out. I told him that I understand that there are tax issues and penalties involved in pulling your 401k money out early, but would you rather pay the penalties now and keep a chunk of your money, or keep putting more money in just to wave goodbye to it and your entire nest egg disappear?" Sure enough, I ran into him while visiting, and currently, there's no nest egg anymore.

Unfortunately, the generation that me and Rob are from are, frankly, a bunch of spoiled brats who think that everything should be just handed to them on a silver platter by porn stars just waiting to give them a blow job. Education is down the crapper, the arts are down the crapper, all thanks to pure laziness, and bad parenting.

In this country's infancy and adolecense, we invited the brightest minds in the world to come here, and they did. Now that more and more countries are becoming more industrialized, and the brightest minds are staying home, it's time to start developing the minds of today's kids. We don't have to beat our kids into submission, but simply installing in them the goodness of a hard days work, whatever field they may be in. Work for your education by studying hard. Work for your money by working hard. Are you going to pay more taxes? Possibly, yes. Anyone ever hear of "pay it forward?" If you don't like what the government is doing with the money, go into politics to try and affect change, or VOTE THEM IN OR OUT! Take responsibility for what you want done and what you want to do.

Do you think Obama pulled a magic switch and got all these guys? It's been a combination of intelligence and action that's been going on for years. I commend Obama on at least staying after them. It's just funny to me that the liberals don't say a word when Obama is killing all the terrorists, however if an "R" does it, he's wrong.

There have been several Tea Party rallies at the courthouse, and they have regular meetings at the Ramada. Samey-samey. Blair County Tea Party is a bunch of old folks on Social Security who oppose Social Security, and other than a couple really keen daytrips to Washington DC and a barbecue, they've accomplished nothing.
I do have to admit, I just love the reaction the 99% are getting from rightwing media, and the hypocrisy that was inevitable. Tea Party = Bill Of Rights in action, 99% = socialist riots.

Where is Cindy Sheehan and the anti war movement? When W. was pres, they were on the news every night. Cindy would have 3 people in here vigil at W's place in Texas and there would be 20 to 30 media types there interviewing her like it was a huge story.

Now the big o just started a war in another country (Uganda) and not a peep form the anti war crowd.

More US troops died in Afghanistan under the big o in 3 years than under the W years, yet you hear nothing about it, Cindy Sheehan is under the major media black out and the anti war demonstrators took the last 3 years off for vacation.

Couldn't be HYPOCRISY, could it? War is fine if a Democrat is in the White House?

We may disagree on most of the stuff on this thread, but the Blair County TP has been hijacked by...I'm not sure what...I think they were neocons. It has become window dressing for a few minor local celebrities. I think one of them is your radio friend.

I went to one meeting at the Ramada and, well, I was pretty disappointed with the speakers. One of the speakers spewed some meaningless rhetoric about the Constitution. After the meeting I thought I'd have a constitutional talk with him. I was thoroughly unimpressed. He didn't even know about the Revolution of 1937 or the other 3 or 4 cases vital to the constitutionalist mantra. I couldn't even tell if he had a constitutional agenda. If he did, I don't know what it is.

Aside from one lady making it known that there are several seats available in the local party councils, it was all gobbledegook. "Our policy is that we do not endorse any candidates."

The majority at that meeting was the 40-60 age group, not SSI age.
Maybe they were all as equally unimpressed and don't go anymore, leaving the local TP with the SSI crowd, lol.

Gosh, you just knew someone would key in on that, it'll be all over the talkshows tomorrow, and must be on Fox "News" tonight.
So what if they do choose Sharia Law? Does another country have the right to strike down our chosen form of gov't? Don't conservatives seek one nation, UNDER GOD? Don't they want a Christian gov't here? (I know YOU don't, that's irrelevant... you chose your side, though)

I do know Obama repeatedly said during his election campaign that Afghanistan is where we will be fighting. So why the surprise ?

Gaddafi killed Americans, so why is it so bad that we assisted in killing him ?

On the other hand, Bush went after Sadam , killing thousands of innocent civilians and thousands of dead American soldiers, at an exorbitant cost, for no reason. He constantly claimed it was because Sadam was behind the 911 attack even though Sadam had nothing to do with it.

Like I said: Envy. They figured out that Bush/Cheney created the Iraq War as a way to create government spending without pissing off fiscal conservatives... in fact, they used the rightwing media to create a mindset that if you complained you were un-American. Trillions were spent, Cheney's company tripled in size in a matter of a few months (on no-bid contracts), and no WMD's or 9/11 link were ever found. Liberals at the time were correct in assuming that neither ever would be.
Modern conservatism is equal parts amnesia, self-importance, righteous indignation, and a pronounced inability to seperate fact from corporate-prescribed opinion.
