Does anybody realize we have sent armed troops into Uganda? Obama, that peace prize winner, has now upped it to 5 countries that we are fighting in. Do the Nobel Peace Prize people want their prize back?

They don't wanna work, they want had outs from the wealthy...I made a post on one of the youtube videos of the Occupy Wall Street retards, and you know what I got in reply? They said I was a fucking idiot, and that people who have two vacation homes shouldn't because they don't need them...Basically, it's jealousy of the rich. They are protesting being on the bottom of the chain.Don Hughes wrote:Oh I'm not saying the wealth effect isn't in effect here, all I'm saying is it's tough to make money when you're out camping instead of working, and it's tough to find a job when you're not out looking for a job. I can't remember the survey, but it said that many of the protesters actually have jobs. I wonder if their bosses like the fact that they're putting more time into camping than working.

I agree that the quote "99%" are not represented very well, and yes, we all are probably taking it up the @$$ a little bit, but I certainly am not blaming my financial issues on the 1%, or bankers, or whoever. If I don't want to risk losing my money, I simply don't invest.
One exchange comes to mind. I was still living in Altoona, working at the Weis over by the mall. It was not long after things crashed and people were losing their nest eggs. I did not have much in my 401k at the time, so I was still making money in it due to what I was putting in, and what Weis was matching. One of my stockers showed me his 401k. He told me that he had been losing money for however many periods straight, but still refused to alter how it was invested, or even pull it out. I told him that I understand that there are tax issues and penalties involved in pulling your 401k money out early, but would you rather pay the penalties now and keep a chunk of your money, or keep putting more money in just to wave goodbye to it and your entire nest egg disappear?" Sure enough, I ran into him while visiting, and currently, there's no nest egg anymore.
Unfortunately, the generation that me and Rob are from are, frankly, a bunch of spoiled brats who think that everything should be just handed to them on a silver platter by porn stars just waiting to give them a blow job. Education is down the crapper, the arts are down the crapper, all thanks to pure laziness, and bad parenting.
In this country's infancy and adolecense, we invited the brightest minds in the world to come here, and they did. Now that more and more countries are becoming more industrialized, and the brightest minds are staying home, it's time to start developing the minds of today's kids. We don't have to beat our kids into submission, but simply installing in them the goodness of a hard days work, whatever field they may be in. Work for your education by studying hard. Work for your money by working hard. Are you going to pay more taxes? Possibly, yes. Anyone ever hear of "pay it forward?" If you don't like what the government is doing with the money, go into politics to try and affect change, or VOTE THEM IN OR OUT! Take responsibility for what you want done and what you want to do.

The ouster of Gaddafi cost us one billion dollars, which sounds like alot to someone on the right. It's half the cost of a single B-2 bomber. Do you think Obama pulled a magic switch and got all these guys? It's been a combination of intelligence and action that's been going on for years. I commend Obama on at least staying after them. It's just funny to me that the liberals don't say a word when Obama is killing all the terrorists, however if an "R" does it, he's wrong.
Does the big o still get to keep the Nobel Peace Prize after murdering all those people? Does he still get to keep it after going into another country to start war? How many countries are there US bullets and bombs killing these days?songsmith wrote:The ouster of Gaddafi cost us one billion dollars, which sounds like alot to someone on the right. There have been several Tea Party rallies at the courthouse, and they have regular meetings at the Ramada. Samey-samey. Blair County Tea Party is a bunch of old folks on Social Security who oppose Social Security, and other than a couple really keen daytrips to Washington DC and a barbecue, they've accomplished nothing.ToonaRockGuy wrote:Occupy Tuckahoe Park is working too.
Yes, I'm serious. There is apparently an Occupy gathering at Tuckahoe Park in Altoona.
I do have to admit, I just love the reaction the 99% are getting from rightwing media, and the hypocrisy that was inevitable. Tea Party = Bill Of Rights in action, 99% = socialist riots.

Where is Cindy Sheehan and the anti war movement? When W. was pres, they were on the news every night. Cindy would have 3 people in here vigil at W's place in Texas and there would be 20 to 30 media types there interviewing her like it was a huge story.f.sciarrillo wrote:Why is that when a liberal pres goes into countries and kills bad people, it is fine and a wonderful thing? But when a republican president goes into countries and kills bad people, they are war criminals?
Now the big o just started a war in another country (Uganda) and not a peep form the anti war crowd.
More US troops died in Afghanistan under the big o in 3 years than under the W years, yet you hear nothing about it, Cindy Sheehan is under the major media black out and the anti war demonstrators took the last 3 years off for vacation.
Couldn't be HYPOCRISY, could it? War is fine if a Democrat is in the White House?
And what did those billions accomplish: another Sharia Law government like Iran. DOH!songsmith wrote:

We may disagree on most of the stuff on this thread, but the Blair County TP has been hijacked by...I'm not sure what...I think they were neocons. It has become window dressing for a few minor local celebrities. I think one of them is your radio friend.songsmith wrote:There have been several Tea Party rallies at the courthouse, and they have regular meetings at the Ramada. Samey-samey. I went to one meeting at the Ramada and, well, I was pretty disappointed with the speakers. One of the speakers spewed some meaningless rhetoric about the Constitution. After the meeting I thought I'd have a constitutional talk with him. I was thoroughly unimpressed. He didn't even know about the Revolution of 1937 or the other 3 or 4 cases vital to the constitutionalist mantra. I couldn't even tell if he had a constitutional agenda. If he did, I don't know what it is.
Aside from one lady making it known that there are several seats available in the local party councils, it was all gobbledegook. "Our policy is that we do not endorse any candidates."

The majority at that meeting was the 40-60 age group, not SSI age.
Maybe they were all as equally unimpressed and don't go anymore, leaving the local TP with the SSI crowd, lol.
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
Okay, what do you call it when, just a few years ago, if you didn't support the war, you didn't support the troops, and were "treasonous," and "un-American." War is only patriotic if a Republican is in the White House? Not HYPOCRISY, right?undercoverjoe wrote:[Where is Cindy Sheehan and the anti war movement? Gosh, you just knew someone would key in on that, it'll be all over the talkshows tomorrow, and must be on Fox "News" tonight.undercoverjoe wrote: [And what did those billions accomplish: another Sharia Law government like Iran. DOH!
So what if they do choose Sharia Law? Does another country have the right to strike down our chosen form of gov't? Don't conservatives seek one nation, UNDER GOD? Don't they want a Christian gov't here? (I know YOU don't, that's irrelevant... you chose your side, though)
We don't have the right to interfere with their democracy. If Islam is what they choose, that sucks, but we aren't their keepers.
You're just frustrated that Big Bad comes out of this smelling like a rose.
Are you taking extra idiot pills tonight?songsmith wrote: Does another country have the right to strike down our chosen form of gov't?

What right did we have to strike down their leader??????????????????
What right did we have to interfere with their government??????????????
We aren't their keepers, but apparently you were happy we were their killers and bombers.
Our leaders don't like Sharia law based Iran, and now our interference has led to another Iran where Libya used to be.
Is there anything happening in the world that you can't find a way to worship your Kenyan god?

Look, if you can no longer carry on a rational conversation, you shouldn't just leave, you should be bounced.
Perahps you don't remember Lockerbie Scotland. A lot of Americans were blown out of the sky, Gaddafi paid for it and masterminded it. And your former boy-crushes, George Bush and Dick Cheney, got all lovey-dovey with Gaddafi towards the end. Uganda is where all the Somali warlords went, and there's also a link to Libya. Like suddenly you're all concerned about terrorists.
You're just all pissy-diapey because terrorists keep getting killed under Big Bad's watch, something that seldom ever happened under GOP rule. (Oh, Stimpy, I didn't like Bush, I'm a libertarian, and only vote for Ron Paul, blah, blah, blah, Kenyan Fuhrer, blah, blah, I'm smart, listen to me, blah blah) You HOPE Libya turns into Iran, don't you, so you can be right, for once. You know NOTHING except your own mental illness.

When you see a question posed the same way you do it, it does look quite stupid.
Bill, I do not accept the premise of your questions. Get a clue, that is why I will never answer them.
When you grow up and develop an adult mentality, we can discuss freedom and liberty.
Libertarians believe a private business owner has the right to discriminate based on race. They would repeal the Civil Rights Act.

Come on Frank, stay down the middle. If a right wing president does it the left says he's wrong. If a left wing president does it the right wing says he's wrong. The main stream media reports both sides. I just heard CBS this morning report the irony of the Obama Peace Prize.f.sciarrillo wrote:Why is that when a liberal pres goes into countries and kills bad people, it is fine and a wonderful thing? I do know Obama repeatedly said during his election campaign that Afghanistan is where we will be fighting. So why the surprise ?
Gaddafi killed Americans, so why is it so bad that we assisted in killing him ?
On the other hand, Bush went after Sadam , killing thousands of innocent civilians and thousands of dead American soldiers, at an exorbitant cost, for no reason. He constantly claimed it was because Sadam was behind the 911 attack even though Sadam had nothing to do with it.
If Bush had taken down Bin Laden we'd be hearing about it constantly. Why is the right wing okay with the fact that Gaddafi killed Americans and Bush kissed up to him ?
Like I said: Envy. They figured out that Bush/Cheney created the Iraq War as a way to create government spending without pissing off fiscal conservatives... in fact, they used the rightwing media to create a mindset that if you complained you were un-American. Trillions were spent, Cheney's company tripled in size in a matter of a few months (on no-bid contracts), and no WMD's or 9/11 link were ever found. Liberals at the time were correct in assuming that neither ever would be.Hawk wrote: Gaddafi killed Americans, so why is it so bad that we assisted in killing him ?

Modern conservatism is equal parts amnesia, self-importance, righteous indignation, and a pronounced inability to seperate fact from corporate-prescribed opinion.
