Even if I did, you're simply rationalizing your leeching from the government for the last couple years. If I got that tax credit, I had to have worked and earned an income to qualify for it. You get a government check every 2 weeks, I get a tax refund once a year, and my income is filed jointly, so my wife's income is involved as well. For instance, during the 10 years that Jeffrey Immelt has run GE, they have lost 50% of their stock value while the DJIA is up 40%! And yet, Obama appoints him as the head of his Economic Advisory Panel. Apparently, Obama is going for that 50% loss.

Oh well, I guess when you consider the incompetence of government bureaucrats, a 50% loss is probably better than what they are used to getting.

Since they are totally clueless about what companies are good investments and which ones are bad, politicians should stay the hell out of the investment business. So, when Jeffrey Immelt and the CEO of Solyndra gave Obama campaign money, did that lead to their rewards? Immelt was appointed Chief Economic Adviser, despite his company shifting 35,000 jobs to China in the last 10 years, despite losing 50% of his companies stock value in the last 10 years. The Solyndra CEO was given a $535 Million guarenteed loan despite most agencies recommending against it. More than half a Billion dollars wasted, gone, our dollars, US taxpayer dollars instant poof!

The spin is that its to keep interest rates low to "stimulate the economy".

In reality, its just more guaranteed money for the US Treasury to burn through on its way to insolvency...at artificially lower rates, of course.

Without it, its possible that the demand for 30-year Treasury bonds could diminish and drive long term rates upward. There is enough investor fear to keep short term rates low as they "flock to safety" of US bills & notes. After all, there is no immediate danger of insolvency, so short term paper is still "safe". Safer than Greece's anyway.

So, when things are bad and you hear a banker saying that everything is peachy, assume he is lying because he doesn't want a run on his bank.
