Have you ever heard the original version of Louie Louie
by Richard Berry & The Pharoahs from 1957? You can actually understand the lyrics. The Beach Boys did their version like this one.

A singer/songwriter/musician who had a few hits using different names. Derek was also Johnny Cymbal (Mr. Bass Man) but neither was his real name John Hendry Blair.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Third Stone From The Sun... Oh yeah haha oh another fantastic Hendrix tune, Love Or Confusion. That's some bad ass guitar sounds he makes after each chorus.
David Bowie - Space Oddity ('69, I think?)
And the Doors - ... Well how about The Doors, Strange Days, Waiting For The Sun and The Soft Parade. Haha

Could be early 70's. I once read that a 17 year old Nugent with the Amboy Dukes toured the Mid West with Zappa in 1967. They drove around in Nugent's van. Those had to be interesting conversations.
