Everyone wants their beliefs acknowledged, but very few actually acknowledge others'. Obviously, you're gonna piss a few people off no matter which way you go. If NBC says "In god we trust", then the people that don't believe in such a presence will be pissed... Not to mention that the people who believe in a goddess, and not a god, will be pissed. If they don't put those 4 words in, they're pissing off a lot of people who believe in a god. Really, there's no win. They just need to go along with whichever way they're going and call it a day

not that it matters either but I would rather be a crybaby or a liberal pussy then a person who has nothing better to do except get on the internet and flip flop on politics all day...
The script was written, and the villian was cast. The provocation needed, they will provide. They did it before, they'll do it again.

I am not raciest nor am I homophobic but how is it okay for one but not another? My point...If you don't believe in god don't say it but I love god and I am going to say "under god"...Mind your own business as I have to mind mine!

No we're not. You're talking about the pledge of allegiance.
(sorry Rob, I had to)
But anyway....I really do not see what the big deal is.
Dissent is patriotic. Where would we be if our ancestors
wouldn't have said fuck off, we don't like how you're doing
things?
Maybe look at it in the sense of: not using "under god" in the pledge
could bring about a sense of unity between religious people and non
religious people. Because when it all boils down, we are all Americans.
Whether you are a believer or a non- believer we are all Americans.
We are all the same. Black, white, red, yellow, christian, pagan, atheist,
satanist, heterosexual, homosexual, etc........
WE ARE ALL AMERICANS!
Yea, you know what I mean..
Another thing is, it doesn't specify what god. It could be any ones god.
Unless your religion has more than one god. Then which god are we a nation under? What about strait up atheism? They believe there is no god, so why have that phrase spoken at all? Maybe change it to one nation under allah, so we dont offend a bunch of suicide bombers. Or how bout one nation under buddah, since buddah wasnt a god at all. See, in a country that allows you to chose your religion. No matter what when you mention any religion in a national saying, your gonna piss someone off. Of course i guess when you cut it out entirely you piss someone off anyway. Thats one of the reasons why involving religion in anything is just a bad idea. Anyway, kudos to nbc for further pissing off the right wingers. Isnt bad enough that the fed controls them anyway i guess.
I think the appropriate course of action is to express your own beliefs. If you believe in "one nation, under God", say that. If you believe in "one nation under French's Spicy Mustard", say that. The offensive part is when people go out of their way to edit God out of things that were written with Gods name in them.
I'm often shocked at the widespread misinterpretations of the first amendment and general idea of "seperation of church and state". To be clear: the first amendment prohibits congress from favoring one religion over others. The latter is not a constitutional provision and was used in a letter from then-president Thomas Jefferson to a baptist pastor who was worried that his (previously described)first amendment rights could be in jeopardy.
