You guys do know that not all religions believe in that god? I find it offensive. Quite frankly in a country with freedom of religion i cant believe how many people get pissed off when people wanna remove religion from anything. If the majority of people on this country were pagans i doubt this would be such a big deal. No one bitches when they bleep god out of god damnit in movies adapted to tv. Well, at least not for the same reason.

This country was basically founded by people who were being persecuted because of their religious beliefs as well as other ways their home countries were trying to control them. I don't even think that it's so much taking the words "under God" away from speaches and pledges that we've heard all of our lives. I think that it makes people uneasy to know that even a simple thing like omitting words we've spoken all our lives could be a premier to even bigger changes that may come our way that we don't have any say or control over. Sort of like "lets just start with THIS and see how far we can take it, and then if we can get away with it, we'll go for something bigger"!

No we're not. You're talking about the pledge of allegiance.RobTheDrummer wrote:We are talking about the NATIONAL ANTHEM....
(sorry Rob, I had to)
But anyway....I really do not see what the big deal is.
Dissent is patriotic. Where would we be if our ancestors
wouldn't have said fuck off, we don't like how you're doing
things?
Maybe look at it in the sense of: not using "under god" in the pledge
could bring about a sense of unity between religious people and non
religious people. Because when it all boils down, we are all Americans.
Whether you are a believer or a non- believer we are all Americans.
We are all the same. Black, white, red, yellow, christian, pagan, atheist,
satanist, heterosexual, homosexual, etc........
WE ARE ALL AMERICANS!

Another thing is, it doesn't specify what god. It could be any ones god.

Ah, so you agree with me....NBC is an arm of the state! At least whilst Obama is in office.faster pussycat wrote:uhh don't you think it might be wise to keep church and state separate?
how do you do that while acknowledging we are one nation under god?
which god? the christian god?

Church and state are not separate. The state shall not recognize one religion over another. The founding fathers wanted everyone to have the freedom to worship God no matter what religious organization they belonged to. They didn't want the state to dictate that any ONE religion was the only religion accepted by the state.faster pussycat wrote:uhh don't you think it might be wise to keep church and state separate?

Here are a few things I find offensive: Black history month (Can we have an all white history month?)....All black TV station (Can we have an all white TV station?)...An all gay TV station (Can we have an all straight TV station?)...People who protest a soldiers funeral (No respect for the people who give these "people" the right to protest)...Minority status (How is this equal?)...Thats just a few but can I do anything about it...NO!! I am not raciest nor am I homophobic but how is it okay for one but not another? My point...If you don't believe in god don't say it but I love god and I am going to say "under god"...Mind your own business as I have to mind mine!

People are making a big deal because.....stick with me here J..... NBC knew exactly what they were doing, and then GASP, were shocked and lied when the backlash came.I mean fuck man, if you're gonna fly a flag that you KNOW is gonna rub a vast majority of folks the wrong way, AT LEAST HAVE THE FUCKIN BALLS TO STICK TO YOUR GUNS!Typical liberal response. When the big sticks pounded on the door they backed off of it like a missed chord change.I'd rather be a crybaby than a lying pussy.shredder138 wrote:BIG FUCKING DEAL!!Goddamn, people are such crybabies.
