lyrics:
I said grandpa whats this picture here its all black and white it aint real clear is that you there? He said yeah i was 11 times were tough back in '35 thats me and uncle Joe just tryin to survive a cotton farm in the great depression.
If it looks like we were scared to death like a couple of kids just trying to save each other you should've seen it in color.
Ohh and this one here was taken over seas in the middle of hell in 1943 in the winter time you can almost see my breath that was my tail gunner ole Johnny Magee he was a high school teacher from new Orleans and he had my back right through the day we left.
If it looks like we were scared to death like a couple of kids just trying to save each other you should've seen it in color.
A picture's worth a thousand words but you cant see what those shades of gray keep covered you should've seen it in color
This one is my favorite one. This is me and grandma in the summer sun all dressed up the day we said our vows. You can't tell it here but it was hot that June and that rose was red and her eyes were blue and just look at that smile I was so proud. Thats the story of my life right there in black and white
And if it looks like we were scared to death like a couple of kids just trying to save each other you should've seen it in color.
A pictures worth a thousand words but you cant see what those shades of gray keep covered you should have seen it in color.

Weird how things relate. I saw the commercial with Blue Christmas, too, and told my wife about how it took me back to Christmas 1976, and how, when it came on the AM radio in my dad's '56 Ford F-100 pickup, he let me turn it up and sing the ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh backing vocal part in between giggles.
And I'm in agreement with Joe on the Derek Trucks. My "album" of choice is a bootleg of the Johnstown show from this past summer. Don't get me wrong, I like the studio stuff, but I think the band's much better on live recordings. I've downloaded a few dozen, and they're always top-notch. I once told Hawk, MJB, nakedtwister and the boys that Derek Trucks has the best female voice in rock, despite not being a woman, and never actually singing a note. His slidework covers the gamut of emotions... he can sound like an Indian woman quietly singing a folk song, or a furious American woman screaming at the top of her lungs at you.
Oh yeah, his band is freaking amazing. I could just listen to Yonrico and Kofi playing alone.--->JMS

That's cool! I remember I would have been about four or five years old when that came out. My teenage aunt had a cabinet stereo at my grandmothers house. I remember her playing that album (331/3) in a stack of Christmas albums. I remember the moment like it was yesterday.songsmith wrote:Weird how things relate. I have a weird playlist revolving through my cranium today...
At least three songs from The Embalmed's new What Would Judas Do CD: "What Would Judas Do," "Heaven Below" and especially "Deathlehem" (both the Middle-Eastern-flavored intro and the bone-jarring choruses!).
And...for some strange reason...
"Roses Are Free" - sort of a combination of the Dustin Burley and/or Sound Driven versions, but the melody keeps recurring in my brain. And I've never heard the Ween or Phish versions of this tune!
All four of these tunes have been rotating in my head all day...which suggests to me (A) how damned catchy The Embalmed is beneath all the brutality, and (B) maybe I need to buy a Ween or Phish CD...

The song that's been stuck in my head for the past several days is "Computer God" from Black Sabbath's Dehumanizer album with Dio from the early '90s. I've been on a BIG Dio kick lately especially his time in Rainbow (Stargazer rules).
And yes, Mars Volta's Deloused... is a great album. As is Deep Purple's MAchine Head.

Re: song
All good. I especially like "After all the dead". The last time I saw DIO with his band, they did Stargazer. A masterpiece.Diavolo wrote:The song that's been stuck in my head for the past several days is "Computer God" from Black Sabbath's Dehumanizer album with Dio from the early '90s. Today, in honor of the day of his birth, a bit of the Music my father knew and loved: "Revolver" by The Beatles (his and my faves were then replayed: "Taxman", "I'm Only Sleeping", "Love You To", "Yellow Submarine" "She Said She Said", "Good Day Sunshine" and "Tomorrow Never Knows"), and The ABB, "Live At The Fillmore East".
In the last month, still Porcupine Tree's "The Incident".

Rust in Peace
Every now and then I go back through my old music. I've been listening to Rust in Peace lately too. Man that was some tight and heavy shit.
I was at a Pens vs. Capitals game in MD a while back and met Marty Freidman in line getting beer. I ended up talking to him for about 20 min in line.
