I LOOOOOOVE it
another triumph of substance over flash.
T. O. looked like the whiny, bitch-ass, I'd rather lose and look good than win and get dirty, no account, punk that he is
and The Black and Gold did the classy thing by not going in for that last score at the end of the 4th, so as not to embarrass their opponents.
substance over Flash makes me misty everytime

True man, very True....Bill Cowher is a class dude as far as the NFL is concerned...T.O. is an ass, plain and simple. Phenomenal talent and mouth.FatVin wrote:I LOOOOOOVE it

As long as they don't let these wins go to their heads and just keep doing what they're doing, they really might have a chance this year. GO STEELERS!!!

Was just thinkin back and found this off there site, i remember it well...mmmm
Todays team could really rival the days of old, hope they keep er goin!Yet another standard was set the following year when the 1979 Steelers defeated the Los Angeles Rams, 31-19, in Super Bowl XIV to make them the first team in history to win four Super Bowls and the only team to win back-to-back Super Bowls twice. The Super Bowl victory followed a 12-4 regular season and playoff wins versus Miami (34-14) and Houston (27-13). With six consecutive AFC Central crowns, eight straight years of playoff appearances and four Super Bowl championships, the Steelers were tagged the "Team of the Decade" for the 1970s.
I don't know about that.Todays team could really rival the days of old
The offense (today's team) is good but Bradshaw, Swann and Harris. . . .I dunno
While Today's defense is arguably the best in football right now, Mean Joe Green and Jack Lambert and Mel Blount and Donnie Shell, they aint even a patch to
I like Today's team, I'm rootin for em all the way, they've got as good a chance as there is at going all the way but let's wait till they've won 1 Super Bowl let alone 4 before comparing them to the Steelers I grew up with.
First, they have to beat the Browns on sunday, then let's later we can talk dynasty Let's not get crazy.

Here is the difference between today's team and the 1970's:
Defense. Todays team has to blitz alot to create pressure, turnovers, etc. The 1970's Steelers could just line up in a base 4-3, 2 deep and kick your ass all over the place...They didn't need to blitz as often....
Although that is also a statement ot the way the game has changed as well...No team (except the Ravens championship team) has been able to line up straight up and kick your ass all game with one set since the inception of free agency and the run and shoot or west coast passing game....
Offensively, these teams are similar....
Swann/Stallworth vs. Ward/Burress/Randle El
Harris/Bleier vs. Staley/Bettis
Hall of fame O linemen on both who were both considered the best at their positions(Webster, Faneca)...
Only question mark:
Is Big Ben as good as Bradshaw became??? Way to early to tell...although he damn well could be...

Agreed, let's not give them the Super Bowl rings yet. There's a lot of football yet to be played, and for the Steelers, five of their remaining eight regular season games are on the road. Including this Sunday's rivalry war against the Browns, and trips to Jacksonville and the New York Giants (both which haven't looked shabby so far). I stiill like their chances of getting to the big game in February, but they need to stay healthy, and I'm hoping they're not peaking now and get sloppy later in the season.

That's the same thing I was thinking...they have a tendency to peak at midseason and then not play so well in the play offs during Cowher's tenure...but anyways, it's gonna be a good ride, one way or another.Jim Price wrote: I stiill like their chances of getting to the big game in February, but they need to stay healthy, and I'm hoping they're not peaking now and get sloppy later in the season.

He's a hell of a lot better than when Bradshaw started out--Terry's 1st 5 years weren't very good. After they dumped Hanratty and that 1st half/2nd half platoon system, Bradshaw started taking off, but he threw almost twice as many interceptions as touchdowns. He didn't really come to his own until the the 2nd Super Bowl (his 6th season). Is Big Ben as good as Bradshaw became??? Way to early to tell...although he damn well could be...
Roethlisberger is playing like a seasoned veteran right out of the chute.
Cleveland will be a good road test for him. Its not like it used to be with the Cleveland Municipal Dog Pound and Mudpits, but its still probably the worst place a Steeler quarterback can play. Cleveland is a 4 point underdog, but they are tough at home.

That's why I said that Bradshaw became...Bradshaw was nearly run out of town his first few years...Ben is doing phenomenal...the key is, is what does he do when teams find out how to stop him...how does he adjust? etc, etc...He's going to be great no denying that but, there will be bumps in the road, to be sure

steelers
he ran for like 149 yards or something last sunday?poolpimp911 wrote:Ok I give the steelers credit. They did great job. But, I will not cheer for them until they get rid of that fat fuck Bettis. He is no good. He cant run for more then 10yards with out going to the bench and getting oxygen. Hell I could do just as good as he does. I know someone will say so why dont you go and do it. I just might next year. We shall see but DENVER RULES!!!!!!

Have a look at the all-time rushing list. It indicates otherwise.xero380 wrote:(Bettis) is no good.

zero what the hell! isnt 149 yards rushing against the only undefeated team in the nfl good enough?? the only reason bettis wasnt gettin yards before is because duce was kickin ass, and the offensive line had a bunch of injuries before if you notice all the times he got tackled the line broke down and there was no hole, i think that bettis is in better shape now than he was the last couple years!!

Yep, I was just kinda illustrating your point. He was even worse than the Much-Maligned-Mark-Malone.Punkinhead wrote:That's why I said that Bradshaw became...Bradshaw was nearly run out of town his first few years...Ben is doing phenomenal...the key is, is what does he do when teams find out how to stop him...how does he adjust? etc, etc...He's going to be great no denying that but, there will be bumps in the road, to be sure
I don't think you can devise a plan to stop a guy like that. Too big, too tall, too fast, too strong, too smart. He's the prototype. Paterno would have probably made him a linebacker. You can only hope your players out play him. Sure, he might stare down the primary receiver on occasion, but that's a rookie thing and its not hard to shake habits like that.
