I reformat every couple of months whether it needs it or not.

There is a lot of things that get cached and filed in the registry from use. Not to mention when you install a program and uninstall it there will still be traces of it on your pc. It is a good way to clean out all of the crap that is left behind. Sure Ccleaner is a great tool to use - But, it can only do so much and a reformat is the best to do it ..

The last time I installed a program I didn't keep was a year or more ago... Testing programs out before I install them is what the VMware is for
Then its just a 1-click roll-back that takes at most a few seconds.
I see your points, but in my experience, thats totally overkill.
Besides I don't think I could put that much time into computer maintainance anymore. I need to have my computer up and running at any given time. The hours of downtime while I reformatted and reinstalled everything would literally cost me money...
