Just tell me it's Maker's Mark. More people need to appreciate good whiskey.

Awesome. +1backlash bass wrote:After 20+ years of beer drinking during the gig (Playing buzzed), I decided to quit cold turkey. Since then I have developed super human powers that I could only dream of before. Like, knowing what key the song is in before we start it, Knowing the arrangement of said tune, and knowing right where I laid my rack covers during setup. As well as being able to magically determine at the end of the night exactly where my car was sitting when I pulled into the venue! All kidding aside the last seven weeks have been awesome for me from a playing standpoint and I hate it that it took me this long to figure it out! Playing sober is kewl!
It ain't like it never happened, especially if I'm just sitting in for a song or two (playing with the Hurricanes is a beautiful thing with a properly-adjusted attitude), but mostly no. No booze at all, because I usually drive, and DUI's suck a really lot, and a drunk with a microphone has already been done (they call it karaoke). The other stuff?... well, I'd like to, but I just can't. The musical style I play doesn't allow for much wiggle-room with hitting the note, so if I want to sound decent, I just can't.--->JMS

It used to be Turkey, but I needed to calm my acid reflux, so I went with Jim Beam Rye. It's much smoother than regular Beam. I do like Fighting Cock, IT'S REAL! LOOK IT UP, but they don't carry it any more in PA. Bastards. I will admit to liking Old Grandad. Makers Mark is good too.
I've tried drinking Bookers and Woodcrest and some of the other high end bourbons, but when you suck em down in a shot, it's kinda a waste. I will drink it on the rocks when I'm trying to look sophisticated and not so much like a lush.

Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

Yep. Try Glenfiddich. It's even smoother, and less smoky/tobaccoey???RobTheDrummer wrote:Ever have the Glennlivet scotch? I'm not a fan of scotch, but that shit is pretty good on the rocks.
My fave is Irish whiskey though and my fave Irish whiskey is Jameson.
But I don't think I had one I didn't like, but I stay away from the bottom shelf. That's where I get my vodka though. Grey goose and Nikolai are the same to me.

I'm not scotch drinker. I don't like the charcoal taste.
Now Grey Goose and 3 Olives are pretty nice for vodka. They don't have that kerosene taste that some of the shitty vodkas do. Unless you like that flavor.
Now gin, on the other hand is NOT my favorite drink. Too much floral, pine tree tastes to suit my fine palate.

I get completely smashed till I'm falling down.. I piss on myself.. and puke in the corner.. then someone picks me up and puts my guitar on me.
Thats when I light up the dope!! I smoke that all to my head.. I slick back my puke filled hair...light a cigarette.. do a shot...burn myself with the cigarette.. put it out.. fall back down.. get back up.... then I'm ready... its magic from then on....
Being able to play the same as you would sober..when your drunk..only means you've had a lot of practice at it. I play better when I am fucked up.. I dont think anyone has seen me play sober.

I always liked havin a lil buzz on when I play. Definitely some beans. Sometimes Jager or shots of Crown or Seagrams. Never liked being shitfaced drunk on stage, those damn lights and all.
One of the reason's I never minded opening for anybody, is that I could play and then hang out for the rest of the night. It takes some strong discipline to sit in a bar, listen to good jams, and NOT drink! At least for me anyway.

That's cool you jammed w/ Randy. I haven't seen him in year's. I remember when he would play the Altoona Hotel when I worked there in 96~97 maybe later. After the kitchen closed Steve Termin and I would sit in with Randy and he would put these awesome leads on some of Steve's original tunes. I think I remember my old boss saying Randy was playing on a Christian music project of his a while ago...I don't remember exactly. Ahh, good times.cucuplex96 wrote:I've been playing, I'm in two bands.. I wish you had the time to come out tomorrow night... I used to enjoy the challenge of playing buzzed when I was much younger, like over 20 years ago. I noticed then that it brought out of me at times more creative playing. Or perhaps I took chances that I wouldn't have otherwise. Since the '90's until today I will not play buzzed whatsoever. I've found that playing your best & most creative comes when all your wits are about you. I'm not a cop or non-substance user but I do agree that impairment begins with your first drink or whatever else someone may be using. I believe in partying after the show!!!!
I've drank enough beer to float a battleship! Go ahead and Rock & Roll all night if you can but don't party every day!
