Who pissed in your hometown punchbowl?
I'm not sure i understand your esoteric retort. Are you pissed that you play in a crappy coverband that plays Altoona?Or,are you pissed because you don't play in a crappy original band that doesn't play in Altoona?
1. People always spend time and energy fighting on here about cover bands vs. original bands

2. Nobody resolves anything

3. At the end of the day, all of us are just local musicians and it's not going to matter at the end of the day when we'll all gone, regardless if we play originals or covers. We all just do our own thing.

Can you dig it?

I can dig it indeed. It just seemed to me like you were throwing the hammer down, deeming the topic unworthy for discussion and any attempt to futher it would be meaningless and idiotic. My bad.Seems like a perfectly good topic for a local rock forum. But that was before i knew fellows got the egos bruised and feelings hurt the last time around. No disrespect man.The pic and that quote got under my skin for a slight second but the again i do live in fuckin Altoona.

Well, perhaps because I've been here since Rockpage moved to the forum format and have seen this discussion a million and one times, I'm a bit jaded on the whole thing. It's mostly intellectual masturbation and self-justification, as the pic says. You have the ego-strokers on one side, who think they're rockstars because they play covers in front of packed rooms. On the other side, you have pretentious "artists" with a complex who think that what they do is somehow more musically superior, regardless of how "original" they actually are. Both sides are about as equally annoying. So yeah, I do think the discussion is meaningless and idiotic....pretentious is another good adjective. So instead of making a crybaby diatribe about it, I just decided to respond in part with a pic that I thought was humourous and stated the whole thing in a nutshell. :)

Yeah, it's because it literally turns into "covers vs. originals: Whose the better musician?" not, "why do you choose to play covers vs. originals or vice versa?" It really does get retarded.

And let's not forget my personal favorite twist on the topic: Those in cover bands are mere "musicians" while those in original bands are "artists."

LMFAO

Personally, I'm really digging the Sheetz turkey sub. As long as you don't go for fancy-spancy cheese, you can get a foot long for $4.22.

I guess the "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" would be a greasy hamburger loaded with lots of cheese and bacon.

The "Gimme Three Steps" sandwich would be that one that almost acts as a laxative.

The "LA Woman" would be a single piece of bread with nothing on it.

The "Dirty Deeds" would be a sloppy joe.

We're onto something here! Someone start up a restaurant!
