Ron, while it has been decades since I read it, I agree that's one that'll stay with you!
However, if I recall the description regarding the hue of the creature's skin correctly, wouldnt La La have been a tad more appropriate? ('Tis doubtful it was as bright as La La's! 
)Btw, there is/was a flick: "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein". (Sting even has a role in it.) I have it on tape somewhere, and nah, imho it wasn't as horrifying as the book.
(Actually, imo I don't believe it was horrifying at all. There was one from the '60s or '70s that was a bit more genuine.)
The special effects in a lot of modern horror movies are too (I don't even know if this is a word)
fantastical to be even remotely 'real' and that makes it not a true, actual 'horror' movie, at least imho.
One that comes to mind involved a house I was told I 'had' to see...there was this huge clock contraption...'13 Ghosts' possibly. Any way, imo it was just plain stupid and I couldn't wait for it to be over.
Although, my assessment of "The Bride", which is the one Sting is in, was right on. 
(It has a decent storyline I suppose, but is not true to the book and imho is not at all scary.)
