Btw, there is/was a flick: "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein". (Sting even has a role in it.) I have it on tape somewhere, and nah, imho it wasn't as horrifying as the book.
(Actually, imo I don't believe it was horrifying at all. There was one from the '60s or '70s that was a bit more genuine.)
The special effects in a lot of modern horror movies are too (I don't even know if this is a word)
fantastical to be even remotely 'real' and that makes it not a true, actual 'horror' movie, at least imho.
