I agree with that part. Someone needs to drive with the precious cargo on board. But if neither parent can control themselves long enough to apoint a DD, then children's services needs to be summoned. No excuse for drinking with kids in the car. I'm a Sambora fan but this incident with him pisses me off.Lisa wrote:I don't feel that ... having one adult not drink and having your children out with you for dinner is bad.
But just because a bar has a kitchen doesn't make it a restaurant. And there are game rooms and arcades around if you want to shoot pool with a kid.
As for the cursing in bars goes, it's really a common sense thing. I dont think anyone should stand around saying, "eff" every third word no matter where you go, but as I've told my dear old mother when she's shown up in bars for our gigs in the past, "Mom, this is why we do outdoor festivals in the summer, so you can come see us." And that's not because we use a butt load of profanity on stage, it's because of the clientele.
If we play, for example, a private club (Legion, VFW, Moose, etc.) and there's an older membership in the venue early, we're careful about song selection with "EFFs" in the lyrics. As the night goes on and the crowd becomes "younger," things loosen up a bit.
Of course, IMO, I don't really see the need for constant cursing from a band on stage. I've seen bands do it and I know it turns some people off, but at the same time, I don't think you have to be a complete prude about using profanity.
It really depends on the place, the crowd and the management.
