That's cool. A very cool guy. Got to hang out with him a while over a couple of days several years ago.

At the time, I had no idea whatsoever that he'd been in Ides of March (Was during the one Survivor reunion tour).

Though probably a little overkill on features, the SKB45 and 55 are great.

Have. More than enough volume. Actually, that's one of the reaasons I got it. Can push it more than a higher wattage and get that benefit, but 20 Tube watts....still pretty loud.

Have the HT-5H, and the HT20-H. LOVE them. A LOT! My one suggestion is to replace the tubes (Pre and Power), since the stock ones aren't all that great, and the upgrade to something better makes a big difference. Even the emulated-outs on them (Cab sims, similar to H&K Red Box) is really good. N...

All true, especially Paul's take on Lava Lamps! Have organized/run a few and been really lucky, for the most part, that those involved were great about being ready, setting up/tearing down, having a good plan on what they were playing, etc. One exception was a guitar player for the first band at an ...

To the contrary, yer soundguy will LOVE you. Anything that helps their managing stage vs. to F.O.H. volume to a minimum'll be havin' 'em happier'n a gopher in soft dirt.

You can get some really nice textures out of the Boss acoustic sim. For a mandolin I'd go with one of the thinner sounding sim voicings (not the jumbo), slap a capo as high on the neck as your intonation will tolerate, and use a little right hand muting so it's all attack, no sustain. And, perhaps,...

Start with a guitar plugged straight into the amp (or amp model) and don't add anything else unless you have a specific reason to. And if you go with stomp boxes, invest in a spatula. True. ...You'll find plenty of reasons to add stuff as ya go along... Don't ruin that "joy"/addiction wit...

For a simple, versatile, albeit analog, amp modeler, take a look at the Tech21 GT2 (Or their Trademark amps. The Trademark 60 is a nice combo amp). Really good, nice, simple, and are a staple as far as session players. The have different models (Mesa, Marshall and Fender), different output type, mic...

Wow. Cool that you're looking at the Blackstar. I have a couple and really like them. What I did find, and on their Forum, a lot of other's seem to concur, the tubes they ship with aren't the greatest, either for longevity, or tone (A subjective thing. Some were fine with them, tonally). A tube swap...

Ya, maybe if they didn't consider "gas money" as a legitimate payout (Or, $50 as ANY worthwhile payout...and think they have any right whatsoever to decide how it must be used), they might get more people willing to play that may draw. Or, perhaps book less bands in a night so there was A)...

I think it's a simple case of supply and demand. Yea, there was a time when a decent rock band could get gigs and make some decent money for the effort, but it isn't like that anymore. Maybe bands aren't as interesting anymore, or people can't afford to go out as much these days, or maybe the bar-g...

Seriously, fellas, this exchange (previous 8 or 9 posts) is a bright, shining example of why rock n' roll, and the local scene, is dead. You think rock and the local music scene are dead because people argue on forums? That doesn't make much sense to me. No, I think you guys are making the same poi...

Re: Is Rock n Roll Dead?

Not really sure WHERE to start, but will take a stab. I'd agree that "the tides have changed". But, that's been the case forever. We might not always LIKE the way it's changed, and nowadays might seem like a much bigger lurch that those before, but I can guarantee there are plenty on here ...
