Dude....is this really necessary? This is going to get mean spirited real quickly. There is enough BS on rockpage already. This will further throw Rockpage to the depths of hell.

I dont think anything good will come of this. Nor do I think many will give input if we are talking about local bands.

My hats off to anyone who takes the inititive to organize and go out to play what they desire. I don't believe we have to cut down or talk about ones band that is trying to do something they enjoy. We've all been beginners at one point in our lives. I am a supporter of live music period.

You ARE kidding right? You're expecting us to bash one of our own? Local shows are like getting head, some are better than others.

I wont post anything about this neither. Even If I think a band sucks I will keep it to myself. Everyone starts somewhere,

I was looking the responce to include that was listed (Band, Production,Lighting and the Club, not looking to put down local talent. everyone has a bad night does not mean they suck read into it a bit more For Example workd a show with Quiet Riot a few Years back in James Town New York The Club was Putting on the show We all know there not the Big National Act they used to be the Place was too small way to much Pa for the Room Lighting was Kind of lame. The time all the gear that was requested was there along with backline the band might as well been playing out side. (GET THE IDEA)

I still don't think listing bad shows of local musicians and production companies is a good idea. If a band stiffs a club owner by not showing or something similar, then that's different; they deserve to be exposed for being unprofessional. A band having an off-night doesn't deserve to be discussed on the board. And I'm saying this is as someone who considers himself to be rather blunt about things.

"I was looking for your responses to include the names of said bands, production and lighting companies, along with the names of the clubs. I was not looking to put down local talent.

(The initial request made in this statement is contradicted by the direction given in the second part of the statement.)

"Everyone has a bad night and that does not mean that they suck. Read in to my post a little more.

(Your original post said, quite crudely, by the way: "Looking for the Worst Local Show you have seen ..." There's not much to read in to.)

For example:

I worked a show with Quiet Riot (we all know they are not the “big, national act” they used to be) a few years back in Jamestown, NY. The club management was putting on the show and the facility was too small, considering the amount of PA equipment being used. To top that off, the lighting was not adequate. By the time all of this gear was set up and functioning, along with the back line system, the band may as well have been playing outside.

Do you get the idea?

You’re welcome.

My air guitar solos are pretty bad. And the venue? A hazy bathroom mirror with floss "flingings" stuck to it, probably isn't good enough for most. The sound is always good to ME though. Because I ROCK!

thanks BAG glad to see there is someone not so serious here.

but if you go see a show and are able to tell your friends about it or others in the buisness it was good or bad you should be able to say it here also.

If a friend of mine asked me IN PERSON if I liked the band, venue, sound, etc... I would tell him if I didn't. But I wouldn't go on a public message board and say the same. I also would not stand outside the place and tell people that the band sucks, dont go in. Everyone has different likes and dislikes and mine are no better, or worse, than anyone else's. Also, I think alot of these guys know each other and might have to play together at some point. I don't think they want to start "band wars" and that's exactly what would happen.

Of course, we DO do that with "national" bands here.....

When I saw the subject my first thought was of an old saying and I'm not certain where I heard it, either..."if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Certain things may have happened at shows I've attended, but all in all, there was something I've enjoyed at every single one I've been to. Hence, I've never been at a bad, let alone a "worst" local show. Excrement happens. We need to support one another, not tear one another down.
