Belive it or not it had to be when my aunt & uncle got me a Red Rider BB gun! My parents wouldn't get me one and I really wanted it so bad, it was all I asked for that year. I opened all my presents at mom and dad's and no BB gun man was I bummed but, when I got to my aunt's house there was this big long box with my name on it and I just knew that's what it was. I ripped the paper off and saw the box and I about shit my pants in joy only to find out that they had removed it and put it aside and placed something else in there! Well that was a terrible joke to me at the time and then I thought ...hey wait a minute, what happened to the gun? So I asked and sure enough they brought it out to me and it was just like in the movie A Christmas Story. Of course my mom was pissed and said I couldn't take it home with me and it had to stay at their house cause they lived in the country and we lived in town. I filled that sucker full of BB's rushed outside and set up some pop cans and fired away and wouldn't you know it just like in the movie one of those damn BB's must have hit something other than the cans and came back and hit me in the face! I never did tell my parents cause it was the coolest present ever and I didn't want them to take it away. Man was that a long time ago! Thanx for bring'n back that memory. There were other cool gifts but, that Red Rider was the best!
MERRY CHRISTMAS Bit*chenWomen and my it be a safe and rememberable one!

Wow, that is a tough question - there were so many great gifts, but, in retrospect, I would say my first electric guitar - I was trilled!! And, without that, I wouldn't be playing today and I wouldn't have had the chance to make all the great friendships that I have with many of you.

When I was 11, my brother was getting a TON of gifts, while I only got 2 or 3, and they were all CLOTHES!
Anyway, at the very end my Dad says,"Go down to the garage, theres one last gift hidden down there." It was a brand newe Honda XL-70 Street/Trail bike!
That rocked!

It's tough to single out a specific Christmas, but my best childhood Christmas memories go back to when I was around 10 or 11. I remember one year when it was a howling blizzard on Christmas Eve, and the family car wasn't working, and my mom and I were riding in my uncle's old Chevy panel truck through the blizzard (my older brother was playing a concert somewhere with the school band, as I recall); the heater in the truck barely worked, and the truck had zero suspension and we felt every bump; but we arrived at my uncle's house, and there was Santa (actually, a neighbor dressed as Santa, but at that point, I still believed Santa was the real deal). He was hitting up my uncle's house early, and divvied up candy and small toys between my cousin and I.
Also, my father's side of the family was Italian, and I remember several Christmas Eve's spent at my grandmom's house, with the traditional Italian Christmas Eve "seven fishes" dinner, and eating some of the recipes from the old country that went along with that.
No one Christmas gift really stands out for me, but I grew up at a time when kids got real toys like Lincoln logs, tinker toys, Tonka trucks, Spirograph and more. I went through 'em all!

This 1st one I don't remember, but still have...my very first Teddy Bear that I got my first Christmas. Much of Teddy's Fur is missing and he stopped squeaking long ago,,,but for more years than I care to admit, I couldn't sleep without him! He's wrapped up and in a safe place. My earliest memorable fav present was fuzzy Yellow bedroom slippers, that were just like my big Sister's Pink ones...I think I was 4 or 5...I'd "discovered" them before hand and when I opened them on Christmas morning, that's how I knew "the truth" about Santa.
My mom was none too pleased! A doll carriage a year or 2 later...a set of Breyer Horses at the age of 10 or 11...I'd played with them and displayed them, but I still have the original box, too!
At least I did. Long story. The Cross necklace my brother gave me when I was 13, which I still have. One of the funniest memories ever is of my youngest son getting his bike at my sister's last year and later when we arrived at my mom's, as he was opening more presents, him saying, "I wasn't THIS good"!

I would have to say that i cant single out just one christmas alone. But one of my favorite was when i was like 9 i got like 20 barbie dolls for christmas that year and it was soooooo awesome(yeah i was a barbie doll kid). Later around age 19-20?!, my mom bought me my first pair of real diamond earrings,i was so happy to finally have a good set of earrings, i still have them and still NEVER have worn them. I dont want to lose them lol. It is hard to sit and think of all the past Christmas' and think of your favorite toys, but it is a great trip down ole memory lane.... well even though my lane isn't as long as some of you.
Great memories all.

Yes Bit*chen, great memories, thanks yet again, to you!
I do SO wish you'd wear your earrings! I'll have my Necklace 30 years next Christmas (I have a "long lane", indeed!
) and I wear it all the time. In May of 2003, I lost my grandmother's ring...but I chalked it up to something that was meant to be...and a clear sign that I just didn't see. I'll 'splain it to you, one day.
I check the Cross Pendant from time to time, to make certain it's secure and won't fall off the chain...if I ever lost it, don't get me wrong, I'd be DEVASTATED, but I'd never trade the comfort of feeling at times almost like my brother is with me, for ANYTHING!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, your hubby and little girls!

Thanks yankee.
I think i might wear them some day, maybe i will wear them on x-mas .
Thats great that you feel like he's with you when you wear the necklace. Even though you wear it and feel that, you should know also that he is with you ALL the time.
You are truly an awesome lady, hopefully some day i get to meet you.
Merry Christmas to you and you family. May it be a memorable one!

When I was in 3rd grade, my teacher noticed that I was very interested in science in general, and particularly fossils and weather. She also knew that my family was, um, financially disadvantaged, and that Christmas would be slim. Her husband was a leader in the local American Legion, and he took up a small collection to help. Apparently, the collection worked out pretty good:
About 2 days before Christmas, my mother heard a car in the driveway, and looked out the window. Santa Claus was on the other side of the window looking in! She screamed, and nearly peed her pants.
Santa was invited in, to the great delight of my little sisters, who were still very young toddlers. He sat at our kitchen table, and put us all on his lap one by one. First, dolls for my sisters. Then Lincoln logs for my brother. Then he presented me with a gift I kept for many years... a geology lab science kit. He also presented my mom with a complete ham dinner, and some cash. My dad was priggish about the whole thing as usual, but relented because he didn't want to have to take toys away from kids.
I took that geology kit to school after Christmas vacation, and remember the teacher was very interested in it, and in me, just beaming and smiling. Fact is, we didn't know who Santa was for many years. It was a completely selfless act for a quiet little boy who would never have asked for it, and although I'm not a Christmas-y person, my eyes are wet as I write this, and it's my favorite Christmas memory.-------->JMS

Even as a young lad, the "salesman" in me was emerging. It was the Christmas of 1980, and the month previous I had broken my left arm (a gruesome dislocation at the elbow which shattered all the bones in the joint), so I was wearing a shoulder-to-wrist cast. One day, shortly before Christmas, I began to experience a nagging pain in my abdomen which worsened as the day went on.
When I got home from school, I told my mother about the pain (at this point, it was bending me over). Eventually, she took me to the emergency room. It was discovered I had appendicitis, my appendix was ready to rupture and they had to rush me into the OR for emergency surgery.
As I lay on a gurney, my arm still throbbing inside the cast, singing a "pain duet" with my stomach, the anesthesia began to take hold. My father, standing over the bed, assured me that everything was going to be all right. He said he'd be there when I came out of surgery and asked if there was anything I needed.
Little Robby Douché, falling in and out of consciousness, looked up at Dad and said, in the most pathetic, pitiful voice, "Could you please make sure Santa knows I'm in the hospital and that I'm really wishing for a new Atari 2600 Game Console ... with the Pac-Man cartirdge?"
It's amazing how much mileage one can get out of a broken arm and a four-inch incision ... I still have that Atari, with two working joy sticks, the paddle controllers, the Centipede "ball" controller, along with about 20 game cartridges. Kick-ass.

What a great story John. Thats what it's all about. I personally don't get wrapped up in gifts that are given to me. I dont turn them down but for me it's getting together, with friends and family, to play games and drink a little, rehash old memories, and to create new ones. My ultimate Christmas would be to get together with all of the band members and fans on rockpage, all families included, and have a big bash. That would be sweet!!!!! Merry Christmas to all and I hope you make it back for the Holidays Ron cause we missed you at Thanksgiving. Rock On!!

Cool thread!
I had the same muppet baby kit too!!..Use to take it apart and pack it on the bed(my pretend van) and pretend I was traveling from show to show...and put it togeather ..(can't believe I practiced that part!). My bro "Fro" called me to the shed one day to show me how he could play it with a hammer! that pissed me off when he acted like he sneezed and broke the head!...(funny tho now!)
My first real kit I bought with hay bailing money saved...had the picture cut out of the wish book and hung on the wall for months to remind me why I was saving the money!!
The most coolest thing I can remember when I was young was a ride on toy I always wanted..called a CRAZY CAR..(some older guys might remember it).was round shaped and yellow with two big red wheels on each side with handles on wheels and you sat in it and cranked the wheels to make it go...cranking one each way made you spin wildly...(was a legal buzz!)...(hmmmm thats whats where it all started!)...It was under the tree when I woke and walked down half asleep and went to the bathroom and back to bed...walked by it twice and never saw it!!...
Man !! to be back in those days!
Merry Christmas to all and what ever else you want to call it

Growing up was always an emotional rollercoaster in my family, so I don't actually recall too many Christmas' before the 5th or 6th grade. I always remember having a huge pile of presents, but nothing is really standing out in my mind. The three coolest things that happened though, were all bass guitars.
1st Bass: I was in 7th grade when I got it. It was just a crappy, no-named hunk of junk. I ended up trading it away after I had completly destroyed it. I wish now that I would have kept it, but...what are you going to do.
2nd Bass: The bass I was using at the time was my Step-Dads, and I had somehow stripped a couple of the wires out of the electronics. Unable to fix it, I went bassless for awhile, until Santa's little helper came to the rescue. Esa had bought me my first 5-String, and it was great.
3rd Bass: Two years ago, when people asked me what I wanted, I had said that I wanted to get a new 4 string. That was all that I had wanted that year, and they all pooled together and came up with the cash. With the help of Matt_22, we went out to Guitar Center and I came home with my baby!
That's about it, really.
