Verizon 768K DSL $14.95
I just activated my new VZ 768K DSL service. In general, it is just as fast as the pipeline service that I was paying Charter/AtlanticBB $34.95/month. Pipeline was supposed to be 1.5MB, but it usually registered 768K.
Considering this is just $14.95/month (regular price, not a special) and goes on the phone bill, its a welcome change from the cable company. Downloads are just slightly longer, but you can't tell much difference when loading a web page.
When I look at everything else available, this service blows away the competition hands down. Does anybody else know of a better broadband deal? BTW, VZ has 3.0MB for double the price at $29.95. Thats just blazing.

I work for Verizon and sell DSL everyday ($30 a sale). If you're interested in getting DSL sign yourself up online cause the first month is free with a 12 month commitment. Like stated you get 768Kb download speed for 14.95, plus 19.95 for the shipping and activation of your modem and two charges for the service ordered. The first charge is the pro-rated portion from the activation date and one month in advance. Let me be the first to say when I get a customer on the phone that has DSL it's not always pretty. DSL service can be pretty messed up after the first 30 days. If you have wire problems inside your house Verizon is going to charge you a fortune to fix if they even make it there in a week. If they can't address your problem and you want to cancel after the first 30 days that's a $79 early termination fee and $79 if you keep the modem.

Go to circuit city and apply... You get the first month for free, then the next 2 months are 19.99 a month, then the rest are $29.99 a month. Plus, you get a $100 Circuit City Merchandise card.Punkinhead wrote:Me too...I'm pretty happy with it.bfoust wrote:Yea I have the 3.0mb - 1 yr commitment with Verizon for $29.99/mo - free wireless modem.

I plan on being the first person in tyrone with it. If you want to find out more info on it you can go here:
They will also be offering Phone service and Television service threw it. All high band digital. HDTV baby !!
Something else also, They are going to allow servers. So it looks a web, ftp, mail, and game server will be in order. As well as a bittorent tracker.. With a speed of 15 meg down and 2 meg up being better than a t1, why the heck not ??
There is talk that they are going to be adding a new speed of 1 meg up and down for 14.95 a month. Something to get people away from cable, also get people away from dsl. Then when this is completely rolled out they will be doing away with dsl. That is what the last tech I talked to sais anyhow ..

If youth knew; if age could.
Wonder if you can switch from the 3.0Mb to the 768k without a penalty? Anyone tried it? The 3 meg service has a 12 month commitment with a penalty for early cancellation, but you wouldn't really be cancelling; Verizon would still keep your business.
I've got the 3 meg service now, but it only gets 1.5 meg on my lines. It still smokes and I really like it, but I'd be just as happy (probably happier) with 768k at half the price. Gotta pay dem gas bills . . .
