Workout (Motivational) Music - Suggestions?

Post by Marsman365 »

I've been working out over the past several years to "try" to stay in shape as age slowly takes over my body. I'm looking for some fresh ideas on some music to listen to while working out. Nothing seems to drag a workout down more than lame music playing while you're trying to stay motivated.

I used to jump rope to side 2 of Kiss Alive. Great music and quite the workout.

Rock, pop, top 40, polka, I don't care. I'm looking for some fresh ideas to mix it up.

Maybe Woofburger will chime in with some "expert" advice! LOL

You're most likely going to think this is the oddest workout music ever, but it's always worked for me: The Black Crowes, "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion"...there are many tunes that start out slow and build up, perfect for Cardio...and the last one is definitely a "cool down" tune. :) That CD is truly a multi-purpose one for me, what can I say? :D

My wife like Usher songs to work out to... moderate speed and big beat. Old school funk works too. Metal is for weightlifting. Country's for gettin' fat! ------------>JMS

Anything upbeat and positive should be good for a work out.

I agree that most guys listen to some kind of bust ass rock to lift weights cuz they need get pumped.

I used to have a few compilation cd's I made specifically for work outs..I had to make a lot b/c I got sick of working out the same shit after a while...need VARIETTYYYYYYYY for ENERGYYYYYYYYY. 8)

Macho Man Randy Savage has a rap album out. he probably works out to his own crap. its a sad time when a wrestler records music....as if wearing 'ball hugger tights' isnt bad enough.

there is ONLY one kind of workout music.....METAL!!!!!! unless youre doing something faggy like watching 'Movin with Susan'.

Rage Against the Machine-especially the first CD- The anger in the lyrics gets me fired up.

Disturbed

Korn-The bassline is great.

GODSMACK and Disturbed also get my vote for "motivation" and for that matter, any number of tunes that exist on the planet. If I'm driving an Interstate and certain ones start to play, there's hopefully not a pig nearby!

Also, Spellbound, can you 'splain to me just what is, "Movin with Susan", as I've never seen it. Also, if it's so "faggy", how do you POSSIBLY know about it? :D

well, a friend of mine would come home and throw in his Susan Powter tape. he is 25 yrs old. he had a step too. we would always laugh at him. his aerobic tape was called 'movin with susan'. we tried and tried to get him to stop. i think i was the ONLY one who knew about it, then i let everyone else know. bottom line is; if youre a man, DONT use aerobic tapes! DONT own a step! lifting weights is the way to go. all you ladies can use the tapes and it not be a problem. when a 25 yr old "man" does....there is a problem. ChaosrisingRice knows what im talking about.

A gym is a place to push yourself ...

In my old gym they would play the "Love Boat''. Once as I was going out after my workout I heard ''Ghost Busters''. All it took was a few powerbombs and a few snotty fuck you's to get it sorted.

Gyms are pretty big and they have alot of serious people.

But do yourself a favor , bring your own music: ipod, cd player, whatever.

Bands:

Pantera
Metallica (Oldies)
Sevendust
Killswitch Engage
Flaw
Adema
Megadeth
Static X
Mushroomhead
Mudvayne
Fear Factory

P.S. Squat & Deadlift heavy!!

I remember when he was at work and we got in his room and finally saw the infamous tape of susan. VERY GAY. In his defense he said that there was a man doing the work out too. But he was older. Also Susan Powers makes a comment on the tape when they are doing squats. "Come on girls its just like when you get home from the grocery store pick those bags up and then put them down. How on earth can a man do that and among other things that he does not be gay. LOL. Wish he would just come out of the closet. Oh yeah and by the way Spellbound i was over his house last weekend and he had his numbers hung up from when he ran.
