Naked Beggars + Hair Force One = Great Show!

I just got back home from the Naked Beggars/Hair Force One show at City Limits...What a show!

Hair Force One opened by doing what they do best, the 80's hair-band favorites, done with precision to a tee. These guys filled the dance floor from the get-go and had the party going strong; the biggest highlight, though, had to be Jeff Labar and Eric Brittingham (Naked Beggars/Cinderella) joining Hair Force One onstage for renditions of Cinderella's "Gypsy Road" and "Shake Me."

Then Naked Beggars, what a cool band! Showcasing both their newer and older material, the Naked Beggars came across as a Black Crowes/Led Zeppelin-typed blues-based hard rock sound, with strong and spunky female lead vox courtesy of Eric Brittingham's wife, Inga. Highlights included a powerful Shawn Hughes drum solo; and on their last song, Naked Beggars returning the favor by inviting Hair Force One - including kilt-clad Jimi Hatt in the house - to step onstage and dance with them during the last song of the evening.

Likewise, offstage, Naked Beggars were very cool, approachable and eager to sign albums and CD covers, no rock star attitudes. They were all very down to earth and good folks. They even handed out samplers from their soon-to-be-released second CD, Spit It Out.

I know that on this Halloween weekend Saturday night, there were a lot of good options out there to check out. If Naked Beggars get back to the Altoona area again down the road, try to check them out - good band! And of course, continue to support Hair Force One as they continue to bring the Decade of Decadence!

Thanks so much for coming out JP. We had a great time and are looking forward to more shows with the Beggars hopefully sometime in the new year. We have such a great working and personal relationship with all of them that if they'd ask us to travel across the country to do shows with them, we wouldn't hesitate to go. They're definately the classiest act in rock as far as I'm concerned. Bottom line is that we love everyone involved in the Beggars camp, not just as musicians, but friends. And friends never stay away from each other long. We'll be sharing a stage again soon, I'm sure.

It's 4:10 and Vic probably just got home from his gig, and what does he do? Logs in to Rockpage. That gives reallly me the "warm-fuzzies", along with those shots of Jaeger!

Geez, The Hatt gets around doesn't he? Last night at the Cro Club near Beccaria, our illustrious guitarist, The Human Mirrorball, G-Diddly Dawg, showed up, set up his gear, then mysteriously disappeared. I looked everywhere he'd normally be, even the ladies room... No G. Luckily, in struts the Hatt Man Hisself, with a puke-flavored shreddy-shred guitar, sportin' one of those wangy-wang bar things that makes it sound like two stuck coonhounds. He looked damn purty, too, in that skirt. When I tried to look up under it, he dropkicked me in the throat, which made it harder than usual to sing. James Urethra Hattinger, Jr. (I stole his wallet, that's what it says on his Driver's License) did a whoop-ass job nailing G-man's guitar parts note-for-note. That's one talented prettyboy, right there, because G-man has a superfluous finger on his left hand, for a total of eleven, and his right hand has a bony growth on his index finger... yeah, his guitar pick has been attached since birth.
Good to see he teleported to the Naked Beggars show... he did miss a lot of free beer after our show... I still have a pocketful of drink chips.----->JMS
