Hurricane Wilma

Post by facingwest »

Hey all. I just wanted everyone to know that I'm safe in Orlando evacuating from the hurricane. This season blows, but at least all is good. I'll post whenever I get home.

You should come back here and do a benefit for yourself! Of course you won't make as much as one night down there probably. :D

Just from watching on the news I'd probably say my car became a submarine. I live on the 4th floor in the condo, so the contents inside should be fine. Fantasy Fest was supposed to start last Saturday and they have no idea when it's going to start. For those that never heard of it, imagine 70 to 90 thousand body painted tourists on a 3 mile by 5 mile island for about 2 weeks. It is one non stop party. I'll be sure and get some photos for you all once it takes off. Since being here in Orlando, at least I got to see a good part of Disney. Cool stuff except the fact that dudes dress up as freaking princesses. That's just not right. heh

Good to hear from you, John, I was wondering about your situation. I heard they closed the Disney parks, which is very rare.----->JMS

3 of the parks did open even though the news was saying otherwise, which meant no freaking lines. Everything will be back to normal. Something weird was to go freaking trick or treating in Disney. You bet your sweet ass, I loaded my back pack up with candy. Figured I'd get the most out of the cost of the ticket. heh I even helped myself to other stuff.

The best thing about today, was seeing the Beach Boys in concert. I gotta admit, they sounded awsome. Only 3 of the original members were there, of course. I got some pictures of that. ;)

I was at Disney over Christmas 10 years ago, talk about surreal... people were walking arounds throwing fake snow, and Xmas lights just don't seem the same at 60 degrees. Santa was sweating like a pig.------->JMS

Esa, you're a HOOT!

facingwest, glad you're okay...I
look forward to when you're up here again and to having fun while you're playing your "favorite" songs. You know, "Sweet Caroline", "Brown Eyed Girl", "Sweet Home Alabama"...

I went to Disney back in '96 with my 2 oldest children, sister and youngest nephew...for the kids it was okay...the Haunted Mansion and Twilight Zone Tower of Terror were cool, but I didn't even get a drop of water on me on Splash Mountain and waited for hours to ride Dumbo...basically just an Airplane ride - I've had more fun in the years since then at Knoebels. The Phoenix is an excellent Roller Coaster and there's 2 water rides you can cool off on.

Well, the verdict is in and my trustworthy Kia is dead. The entire island was under water because of the storm surge and it didn't even rain here.

From talking to others, I found out this hurricane was worse than George because of the flooding. George was a more powerful hurricane that ripped this island a new ass and only did wind damage.

I have to contact my insurance company and FEMA tomorrow to see what they can do for me. The worst part is I just made my last payment on the car in September and the car is 5 years old.
