WORST COVERS OF GOOD SONGS
WORST COVERS OF GOOD SONGS
I think the worst cover of a good song is:
Guns and Roses cover of "Knocking on Heaven's Door" by Dylan.
the band actually does a good job but I would rather chew aluminum foil than listen to Axl destroy those lyrics.

Axl
If you want to hear him at his best. He recorded an album w/ Ian Astbury and Steve Jones. "Fire and gasoline" in "1989". The song. "Did u no wrong" from "The Sex Pistols " originally recorded in "1977".

I will have to agree with JP on the Ozzy cover of King Crimson.
I think it sucks! I don't feel it sounded anything like the original.
I have no problem with doing your own "artist interpretation", but
at least make it recognizable (or in this case "intelligible"). I've always
liked Ozzy, but come on.

I agree Joe, in fact I don't even like the song (sorry Bob), I think its one of his worst. I also hate when the White Stripes attempt to cover Dylan. Another bad cover is Sheryl Crow (who I usually like) doing Sweet Child O Mine. I also intensely dislike Ryan Adams covering Gram Parsons. Also hate Heart of Gold (NYoung) by Tori Amos. And I don't like when people like Avril Lavigne try to cover a great old song they know nothing about.think the worst cover of a good song is:

AGREED...infact I hate anything that rappers copy...and dub over...let the song alone...i hate rap mostly because NO BAND...anyone can scratch good records...thats not music when there is one beat throught the whole song...not even change in the chorus...just chick,chick,thump...chick,chick.thump over and over.....i hope its just a disco phase!!!ZappasXWife wrote:II agree Joe, in fact I don't even like the song (sorry Bob), I think its one of his worst. I dont know if you'd call this a cover remake, but speaking of rappers using other artists songs for their purposes.
Shaun P Diddy/Puff Daddy/ and whatever else Combs:
The Police(Every Breath You Take)
I feel if you're gonna write a tribute song to your friend, Then
Write Your Own Song! (not just new lyrics)

Worst part of that situation is, I think Sting endorsed that piece of crap.skippisode wrote:Shaun P Diddy/Puff Daddy/ and whatever else Combs:

C'mon, Sting.

have any of you heard the Sissor Sisters' version of "Comfortably Numb"???
not only do they suck....they make an excellent song completely blow. i suggest hearing it if you wanna torture yourself..or want to hear the worst cover ever. Of course, Children of Bodom had to cover Britney Spears' "Oops i did it again". WHY?!?! if you havent heard that...again...horrible.

I actually liked Sheryl Crow's cover of Sweet Child. I think that she did a great vocal take on that number.
There's a lot of bad remakes, but Britney Spear's version of (Can't Get No) Satisfaction is pretty high up on the list.

"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
Will To Power covered Frampton's "Baby I Love Your Way" back in the 90's. It sucked hard.
If I hear Rocky 104.9 play "Whiskey In A Jar" one more time, I'm going to beat somebody senseless. The Thin Lizzy version is so much better.
In fact, Rocky also beats the hell out of "Turn the Page". Just say no.

I really like Sheryl Crow, but she should stick to her own material, for the most part. Can't stand her version of "Sweet Child...".
I don't like her cover of "Wild Horses" and I also think she did
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps", but thankfully, I've only heard it once or twice. I do like one cover she did almost as much as the original,
"The First Cut Is The Deepest".
I know many are simply nuts about Shine Down's version of "Simple Man", but whenever I hear it, I have to change the station, especially when the singer gets to his, what I can only describe as "the yelling part" - it made me literally CRINGE the first time I heard it.

That's a lot of vomit for such a little guy!
Here are some more dishonorable mentions:
- Megadeth's version of "Anarchy in the UK". Pssst, Dave . . . check the lyrics next time. Even the Crue got the words right.
- "Star Wars/Cantina Theme" by Meco Menardo. The disco version of the Star Wars music! And still the best-selling instrumental track of all time. Somebody please say it ain't so.
- And a special thumbs-down to all the failed cover versions of The Smiths "How Soon Is Now". Alt-rock bands are drawn to that song like moths to a bug zapper. (Although Love Spit Love's version - the theme from "Charmed" - is a decent try.)

THANK YOU ... finally, someone who shares my opinion of that song ...YankeeRose wrote:I know many are simply nuts about Shine Down's version of "Simple Man", but whenever I hear it, I have to change the station, especially when the singer gets to his, what I can only describe as "the yelling part" - it made me literally CRINGE the first time I heard it.
I'm not sure what he's trying to pull off there, but when I hear that song (especially the "yelling part"), I get the same feeling I get when I see any Ben Stiller movie, you know, the parts where he gets his ass in a sling and you feel embarrassed for him but you can't do anything to help him get out of the jam.
