Another Steelers Post
Ok, so the Steelers win a close one, even with some SHITTY AT BEST CALLS! And Ben got hurt...ok, we're not gonna worry because he's tough. As long as he can play the 31st against the ravens, I'll be happy. Lets hope he's not injured too badly! And fuck yea, make LT look like a average runner! What the hell were up with the refs on the two BAD calls?

What crappy Refs...someone should definitely spank THEM!
My son had trouble falling asleep due to the upstairs neighbor yelling and stomping...my and my daughter's yelling didn't help any, either...and as for the bad calls? The one MAJOR one...I never heard such a stupid ass, "the Refs are for the home team call", EVER..."you must ALLOW him to TRY to catch it"??? I know some rules have changed in Football in recent years, but WTF, is it "make them up as you go along", too??? He TRIED to catch it, touching and fumbling the ball, it was going to hit the ground and we caught/got it just before it did. I thought there was going to be a brawl, that was INSANE! I'm SO glad they won, I think my daughter would have had a Coronary, otherwise!
Time to think of and send Ben some Healing Energy...I've always been a Steelers fan, but to see how all of them on the sidelines joined hands for that Field Goal...how endearing was that? They truly DESERVE to win the Super Bowl this year!!!

From ESPN:
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was knocked out of Monday night's game at San Diego after he was hit in the left knee by a defensive lineman's helmet.
With the Chargers leading 22-21, Roethlisberger had completed a 9-yard pass to Antwaan Randle El when he was hit by Chargers rookie Luis Castillo with 1:05 left. He was replaced by Charlie Batch, who has played only a handful of downs the last three years.
Steelers coach Bill Cowher said Roethlisberger suffered a significant hyperextension of the left knee. Roethlisberger flew with the team to Pittsburgh Monday night although he had to leave the locker room on crutches.
Roethlisberger will undergo an MRI Tuesday. His knee wasn't wrapped as he dressed to leave with the team on the bus to the airport.
The Steelers aren't ruling him out for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but they will prepare Batch during the short week of practice.
The Steelers are treating the injury as though it is not major because they don't know for sure. The team thinks there could be a bone bruise. On the field, though, it looked serious.
Coach Bill Cowher will give an update at the team's Tuesday press conference.

Man, the Steelers had to beat the Chargers and a crappy officiating crew...But with Big Ben probably being out for a long time and Tommy Maddox out for 3-4 more weeks, the next few games don't look so good.
This team is being killed by the injury bug:
Joey Porter (preseason only)
Duce, The Bus
Tommy Maddox and Ben in the same week
Clark Haggans
Without the emergence of Willie Parker in the first couple games, they could have been in a little bit of trouble

Yeah there is, and I'm not saying that I am counting them out. But with Charlie Batch under center, their offense will not be spectacular because everyone will just gang up on the run and they won't be able to run it.YankeeRose wrote:Ben's young, he didn't need to be "carted" off of the field, so I'm being cautiously optimistic any injury is minor and will "HEAL" quickly! There are still a lot of great players on the team who are NOT injured and I'm not counting them out, not by a long shot! There's plenty of the Season left!!!
The defense will have to carry this team till either Ben or Tommy is back.

Unfounded ... MRI is not happening until this afternoon. Any reports stating how long he will be out at this point are purely manufactured. I'm pretty sure the trainers got a decent look at the knee last night and have an "idea" of how bad it is, and I know Cowher knew more than he was reporting at the post-game press conference. That's just good coaching.ChaosRisingRice wrote:just heard off of the radio that the possibilitythat ben is out for the year. That sucks
Bottom line: Don't accept anything as gospel until it's official ... and cross your fingers.

They were speculating on the post-game broadcast that Ben might not be out too long if it was a hyperextended knee or bone bruise; but the concern was ligament damage, which would put him out of action much longer.
Charlie Batch looked good during the preseason. I imagine early on the Steelers will rely on the running game, since the Bus is back. Then they might let Batch open it up a little bit once the running game is established.
Fingers crossed that it isn't a worst case scenario for Big Ben; given the resiliency he's shown thus far, they might not be able to keep him down for too long...

SIGH of relief! I thought that's what it looked like, the helmet hit him just below his knee and his leg was pushed un-naturally back, a definite OUCH!

Here is the official line regarding the injury to B.R.:
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had an MRI on his knee on Tuesday morning after the team returned from San Diego and the results were the same as what the team heard following the game.
Roethlisberger has a hyperextended knee and a bone bruise and has not been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Heinz Field.
“We’ll see how the week progresses,” said head coach Bill Cowher. “I think we all have a deep sigh of relief in regards to the prognosis.”
Roethlisberger suffered the injury in the final minute the 24-22 win over the Chargers. Charlie Batch came in and handed the ball off for the final few plays, before Jeff Reed sealed the win with a field goal.
Batch could be called upon again this week, depending on how the injuries to Roethlisberger and back-up Tommy Maddox progress this week.
“Based on the information I have right now, Charlie Batch is the starter by default until I see more.”
Maddox suffered a calf injury in practice on Friday and did not make the trip to San Diego. Maddox was at the team’s practice facility on Tuesday morning, and his prognosis seems better than expected as well.
“When he got injured on Friday we thought it was a lot like Jerome (Bettis) in terms of the extent of it,” said Cowher. Tommy came in this morning and felt pretty good. I think he is going practice tomorrow. There is a good chance he will be available this week as well.
“The dire situation we thought coming in this morning doesn’t appear that right now.”
The Steelers do not plan any major roster moves at this time based on the injuries

...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
I'm not worried if Batch is at the healm, he's a good qb as he was in detroit (he had no offense in detroit, or d~fense for that matter), he's no big ben but he's more than capable. do we still have st pierre? if not does that make heinz ward or antwaan the back up? this could be interesting but the Steelers are a good enough team to hang with anybody til ben makes it back if it comes to it.

GOOD
I say let Ben relax and get healed properly. Charlie seems to do a good job. Ben doesn't need to end his career early with taking a chance on a bigger injury. I know Ben will want to be out there to play...........but I would hope that he would have enough sense to sit out the game if he wasn't 100%.
