For any of you that were involved with the Halloween Benefit that ABATE did this past October, I wanted to let you know that Regina Benson (the person whom the benefit was held for) passed away. I finally got the paper with details on it, so for any of you that care, here it is. Again, thanks to any of you who performed, sponsored, supported, etc this benefit for her...it made hers and her families' last days a little easier.


BENSON - Regina M., 41, Turkey Path Road, New Germany, died Jan. 30, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center. Born June 24, 1963, in Spangler, daughter of Michael J. and Shirley Jean (Carnahan) Benson. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Michael. Survived by sister, Dolores, wife of Christopher Peters, Mount Joy; brothers, Byron, married to former Marci Thornton, Leavenworth, Kan.; and Gordon-Lee E., married to former Tammy L. Felix, Ebensburg; nieces and nephews, Zachery, Christian, Andrew, Chelsea, Gordon and Joshua; aunt, Janice Evans, North Carolina; and uncle, Ronald Carnahan, Baltimore. Regina worked in the dietary department at Ebensburg State School. She graduated from Richland High School, earned a bachelor's degree in science and furthered her education while in England. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Johnstown. A member of Summerhill Social Club Bowling League, Ebensburg Mixed Bowling League and ABATE. Regina was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Deacon Marion Kush. Interment, Pringle Hill Cemetery.
