What brand/model did you you get? I remember when the Ibanez Universes came out and I thought those really cool. I know that Steve Vai and John Petrucci played seven-stringers (I believe the intro to Dream Theater's A Change of Seasons was played on a seven string acoustic).

I have two five-string basses, and I honesty cannot see myself ever buying another four-string (unless it were some really sweet vintage Fender or Rickenbacker). The fivers seem to be the industry standard anymore, and a lot of session cats will tell you that you need a five-string just as much as the standard Precision to find work nowadays.
