END OF SUMMER JAM

Post by BDR »

What a fantastic time it was once again at End of Summer Jam this weekend at the Cresson Sportsmen’s Club. We had a blast all day Sunday, hanging out with fellow musicians and music lovers, and the bands all put on great shows.

I know people have complained in the past about putting “thank yous” in general discussion, but this event, which is the longest running show of its kind anywhere in the state, deserves the space, so here come the “thank yous.”

First and foremost, thanks to Mick for doing the leg work to pull this thing off every year. Mick’s dedication to the cause — Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh — has resulted in a huge pile of money over the last 14 years. Your commitment makes End of Summer Jam the best live benefit show anywhere. You rock, Mick!

Jeff Renner, aka Lonewolf, did a killer job with production. I was really impressed. Thanks man, and it was cool finally meeting you.

Jim Price, what can be said that hasn’t already been said? You’re always there to boost us up (all area musicians). You see the importance in what we do and you bust your ass to promote our hard work. Thanks!

The fans: Considering the rain on Saturday and the subsequent soggy conditions on Sunday, an excellent crowd showed up Sunday and stayed late. People partied all day and into the evening and that was way cool! Thanks!

The food was great — hot sausage, hamburgers, etc. The kitchen workers kept it rolling with fast service, cheap prices and smiles. Thanks!

Finally, a big thanks to fellow musicians who came out to support not only the cause (I know a lot of the musicians donated money at the door even though they weren’t asked to), but also to support their counterparts on stage. I had several great conversations throughout the day with musicians from all over. It was an all around fun time, most egos were checked at the door, and hopefully, when all is said and done, we’ll have a big check to send to Steeltown.

We’re looking forward to next year,

r:>)

Thanks Rob. It was great to finally meet you guys and see Paul again too. I'm sorry your set wasn't longer, it was killer too. I just wish I'd had more time to mingle.
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
