I am sorry to report that Johnstown Area Guitarist and Vocalist Gordy Haluska has passed away.

Haluska â€" Gordon P. “Gordyâ€�, 66, Richland, went to be with the Lord, after a very courageous battle with brain cancer, on March 28, 2022. He was born on January 15, 1956 in Johnstown. Son of the late John and Anna (Gagan) Haluska. He is survived by his loving children, Garrett (Pittsburgh), Courtney, wife of Jason Kylor, and Paige, wife of Eli Heider (all of Johnstown); grandson, Graham Kylor; mother of his children, Kimberly Mattern-Haluska; siblings, J. Reid (Cathy), Mark (Sherry), and Maryann (Jim) Napier. Gordy was a 1974 graduate of Richland High School. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. Gordy enjoyed golf, softball, and playing his guitar with friends at local establishments to promote live music. His family is grateful for all the hours of home video footage that he captured. Gordy enjoyed family trips to Ocean City, MD and other family vacations. Gordy’s family would like to thank all the employees at The Lutheran Home at Johnstown and Windber Hospice for their loving care. At the family’s request, there will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Private inurnment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. For those who wish to donate, contributions may be sent to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center for Glioblastoma Research in memory of Gordon Haluska.
