HOMEGROWN ROCKER 12/29/19 (2019 YEAR IN REVIEW SPECIAL)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the December 29 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We closed out the old year 2019 on this week's program, the "2019 Year In Review Special!" Starting with January, we took a two-hour trek through the past year on the area music scene, recounting the noteworthy shows and events, recordings, band personnel moves, formations and breakups, as well as remember musicians and music scene people we lost during the past year. And we played tunes from many of the bands and performers who made their mark on the area music scene during the past year!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE MARK ALLEN PROJECT - "Happy New Year (Toss Me a Beer)"
GABE STILLMAN - "No Time for Me"
MISS MELANIE & THE VALLEY RATS - "Demons"
CARVERTON - "Zero"
THE SNIPPED - "Friday Night"
NATE GATES - "From the Hollar to the Hood"
IRON WOLF - "Invaders"
DAN STONEROOK - "Lightning at Night"
POST TRAUMATIK - "Misery"
AFRO N'AT - "Remedo"
JOHN VENTO - "Only Love Stays Alive"
AUGUST WAKE - "Throne"

HOUR TWO:

JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "We See Through It"
ZACH WADE & THE GOOD GRIEF - "From a Coma"
CONNER GILBERT - "Bridges"
CHRIS VIPOND & THE STANLEY STREET BAND - "Never Again"
ROADKILL - "American Slob"
BLACK CAT MOAN - "Is What It Is"
HATE GRENADE - "Revelation"
WHITE WITCH - "Changes Coming"
DARKNESS ON THE RADIO - "Excommunicado"
GRAY BEARD - "Home" (performed live on air 11/17/19)
LORDS A LEAPING - "Auld Lang Syne"

Since the past few weeks have focused on holiday-themed programs, we have some mail to catch up with in the "Homegrown Rocker" mailboxes, so we will check out that mail on our first program of 2020! We'll hear songs from new local and regional recordings that we have received in recent weeks! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside the state, and review Bushmaster feat. Gary Brown's Dancing in the Belly of the Beast CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!" Listen to the "Homegrown Rocker," Sunday night (January 5) at 8 p.m. on 105.9 Qwik-Rock on your FM radio dial, or stream it live online at www.1059qwikrock.com!
