HOMER'S ARMY - Rock Musicians
Report issued from General Disorder (John Homerski Jr.)
Debut Concert at Patton Park Amphitheatre, Patton, PA
Sunday July 25th, 2004 3:00-5:00PM
Just got home from our concert at Patton Park. It was tremendous! Great turnout and the audience response was phenomenal!! Homer's Army is ready to ROLL!! And it looks like the folks up here on the mountain are ready to ROCK!!.
All of our musical friends were there to lend support. Andy Rhody (Fantasy Airlift), Bill Kibler (Payday, Stillwater, PT Cruisers), Jamie Dubetsky (Smokin' J's), Joe Konior (Smokin' J's), Jerry Carnicella (White Shadow), Fran Litzinger (PT Cruisers), and our long time friend and former (maybe again) soundman Pat Waxmunski (Waxy).
We also had local single artist Jim Zemlock play during the break. He did an excellent job with his "down home dark blues" style.
We were supposed to end at 5:00PM, and it was 5:30PM when we tried to finish, but the crowd called for more so we ended up playing three encores. Our final encore "Goin' Up The Country" by Canned Heat payed homage to the '70's and we dedicated it to all of the Vietnam Veterans.
After grabbin' some grub at the Patton Pub I was on my way home and was listening to JP's show "Fast Forward" on the Backyard Rocker. I was just getting ready to call him and suggest that he play Fantasy Airlift (1980 Live at the Country Pub in Patton, PA) and Homer's Army on his show when he started talking about us. I frantically scranbled for a tape, but unfortunately it didn't start recording until the middle of "Open Invitation".
Fantasy Airlift (Tim Homerski - Guitar, Vocals John Homerski Jr (me) Drums, Vocals Andy Rhody - Bass Guitar, Vocals Joe Diederichs - Keyboards, Vocals) was the finest band I have ever played in, and not to sound conceited, but the band is still held in awe and great respect. DAMN that sounded great on the air!! and it brought back great memories (like hoards of people standing on the tables chanting "Airlift!!" "Airlift!!" wanting another encore!!) Then JP played one of the songs off of the "Homer's Army - Demo 1B". Thanks JP!!
On another note, sadly John Baker is no longer our Bass player. His busy playing schedule was starting to interfere with ours. We love John and his easy attitude and great chops. Our new Bass player is Gerry Stanek (The Impostors, Norm Nardini, Outcry, The Lost).
So in case you don't know, the players in HOMER'S ARMY - Rock Musicians are:
Tim Homerski - Guitars, Keyboards, Flute, Vocals
John Homerski, Jr. - Drums, Percussion, Vocals
Keith Homerski - Guitars, Keyboards, Bass Guitar, Mandolin, Vocals
Gerry Stanek - Bass Guitar, Vocals
I'm trying to get in contact with the organizers of the "Rockpage Summer Jam". HOMER'S ARMY - Rock Musicians would love to be involved with that concert.
Well that's about it!
Signing Off.
