HOMEGROWN ROCKER 7/17/16 (NATIVE ALLOYS)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the July 17 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

Thanks to our guests via phone this week, Pittsburgh rock trio Native Alloys (www.nativelloys.com)! We met the band members and learned their story, discussed their brand of indie-flavored rock, and heard tracks from their debut EP, Naked Light! Along the way, we debuted new songs from Crawdad Joe and Float, updated "Local Music News" and dug a 1981 tune by the Tom Brunner Group from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback!"

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

MY HERO ZERO - "Make Some Noise"
BLACK RIDGE - "Too Somethin' Like This"
NATIVE ALLOYS - "April 25"
CRAWDAD JOE - "Blue Green You"
NATIVE ALLOYS - "So Inspired"
WALKNEY - "Airplane"
NATIVE ALLOYS - "Windsor Tie"
DAILY GRIND - "The World Is Yours"
YOUNG LUNGS - "Fix Me"

HOUR TWO:

POST SEASON - "Never Tell Me the Odds"
OBSERVE THE 93RD - "Parallel"
NATIVE ALLOYS - "From Dunmore to Seattle"
JOY IKE - "The Tall Song"
NATIVE ALLOYS - "Viridian Seas"
TOM BRUNNER GROUP - "Cheap Love" (1981, Local Music Flashback)
NATIVE ALLOYS - "Bright Warm Sun"
FLOAT - "Perfect Concussion"
HATE GRENADE - "Killjoy"
SUBJECT TO CHANGE - "Red Slug"

On our next program, we will revisit the mailboxes to see what new recordings have arrived lately - meaning we will be debuting plenty of new tunes, and providing maximum local and regional music! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive, and step "Across State Lines" to hear music from an independent band or artist from outside the Keystone state!

Upcoming guests and specials include:

AUG. 7 - Fast Forward Special
AUG. 14 - Small Town Horror Show
AUG. 21 - Shannon & the Merger
SEPT. 25 - The Chrome Hearts

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)

Bands and artists wanting to submit news items for "Local Music News" may email their news to homegrownrocker@gmail.com. Indicate "MUSIC NEWS" in the subject heading!

Bands and artists interested in having music aired on the show are invited to send their broadcast-quality recordings to: Magnum Broadcasting, 315 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801; ATTN: Jim Price/Homegrown. Or drop the recordings off at the station during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 9 AM – 5 PM. You can also email digital song files or inquiries about the show to homegrownrocker@gmail.com.
